@KBergCBS: The NBA will not approve any subsequent exchange of players between the Clippers and Celtics this summer, and the teams understand that.
I am not sure I belive this.  Doc for a 2015 1st is a very fair and reasonable deal.  How can the Commish think he can stop them from doing another trade.

If true, I think Stern (Mr. I got a bridge to sell you) is way out of bounds on this one.

If the Clips put a deal on the table for KG that we like, I hope Danny fights Stern on this.  I don't see how Stern wins.  Of course if they just offer crap, who cares.

The Clips are a pretty good team just the way they are.  If Doc can get CP and BG on the same page, they will be good.  I don't think they need KG as much as many hear think.

Interesting. Does KG retire?

and leave 11 million plus? I don't think so.

If the $300M he's made so far isn't enough to get by on $11M more won't help much. I'd just as soon see him come back, even if they end up trading him during or after the season. I also look forward to the Clips finding out that, even with Doc, they don't have the horses to win the west, and Bledsoe will do less to tip the scales than KG (or PP) would.

ask Scottie Pippen and Antoine Walker if all the money they made during their careers was enough. 11 million is always 11 million

I completely agree with you.  Which makes me think they could still do the deal on the downlow and then approve it later in the offseason when it will not cause a controversy.  Doc for a 1st is reasonable.  There's no reason for them to reject any trade between those teams at this point.

If true, this is totally lame...

If KG is going to retire, can we still trade him to another team for a decent, but slightly overpaid player and a pick and then have him retire on the spot? Of course, the other team would know of the situation - it would help clear cap space for them...

I think the inclusion of a 2015 1st rounder for Doc is telling: it means the Clips could involve their 2013 1st rounder in a deal for KG before Draft Night.

Tell yourself $11M more would have changed their fortunes. They'd be just as broke. The money wasn't important enough to Antoine to even stay in decent playing shape.

I understand the rule.  But it seems to have too far in this situation.

Now Stern wants to do his job? How 'bout all the titles he handed the lakers? How come he didn't stick his nose into those deals?!

I believe, though, that Pippen and Walker were both influenced by Michael Jordan's spendthrift ways. From what's been reported about Garnett, he's not that way at all.

If KG retires now, he frees up cap space immediately for us. The rebuilding would be easier for Danny since there's no Jordan to fall back on.

Acrtually, 22 million is 22 million.  Don't forget KG would be leaving two years on the table.  And, while many folks think that KG has made enough money already, I too believe he would stick around for the money.  I know some people have left a good sum of money and walked away.  But those people are stupid.

I don't understand why KG can't be traded to LA now.

I think the inclusion of a 2015 1st rounder for Doc is telling: it means the Clips could involve their 2013 1st rounder in a deal for KG before Draft Night.

That's the first thing I thought when I saw the year 2015.
2020 CelticsStrong All-2000s Draft -- Utah Jazz

Finals Starters:  Jason Kidd - Reggie Miller - PJ Tucker - Al Horford - Shaq
Bench:  Rajon Rondo - Trae Young - Marcus Smart - Jaylen Brown -  Peja Stojakovic - Jamal Mashburn - Carlos Boozer - Tristan Thompson - Mehmet Okur

I understand the intentions behind the no-trade rule Stern is implementing but wow, this seems like he's going too far, restricting trades altogether. Nothing out of the ordinary for monarch Stern, though.

I think Clips were willing to give a 2014 protected pick, but finally Boston asked for an unprotected 2015.
