For this thread to make sense y`all got to see this thru my usesrname. If this crazy deal in the news goes thru 4 of the top 5 reasons I fell in love with the Celtics in the 1st place will be gone and the 5th is a point guard coming back from an ACL tear (we know how that goes). I lie some of the young talent stil in the roster but somebody tell me how I`m going to get used to a barely recofnizable roster without clear title credentials? This plea for help goes out particularly to those that have supported thos beautiful franchise the longest.

I was a Ray Allen Fan before i became a celtic fan, but i learned to love the celtics. If the trade happens, i would be loosing the last remnants of the reasons why i am a Celtic fan... Danny should do something about this badly.

what do you mean what do we do? KG probably had to take cortisone shots to play in the playoffs, I think he's done with those bone spurs... Its not like we had a choice. its either deandre jordan or watching KG sit half the season out i bet.

Awe that's adorable.  You two became Celtic fans in 2007?  How sweet.

I often long for the days of Marcus Banks and Jiri Welsch.  It's cool, you guys can find another bandwagon.  Maybe you can come back in 5-10 years when we are relevant again.  No worries.  I'll still be here waiting.

Prepare to watch some sloppy basketball, and start rooting for losses and ping pong balls.

The glory days have returned.

I don't think well be that bad though, all depends on who else we get rid of.

What's wrong with following players to franchises? Seems to make more sense than arbitrarily rooting for your local team simply because they're the local team.

full disclosure: I like the Nuggets because of 'Melo and the Warriors because I'm three degrees away from Steph Curry (in the Kevin Bacon sense). I like the Celtics because of my Dad.

The Celtics are alongside the Spurs two of the classiest organizations. And they do it with no help from the league unlike the Knicks and Lakers.

What the Spurs have been doing, however, the Celts have been doing forever. People don't realize it. If not for two untimely, tragic passings, the Original Big Three would have held up longer. Len Bias would have made us the 90's Bulls of the East.

The Celts and the Spurs are the winningest franchises, even when you include the surreal tough luck. As said before, they aren't even the biggest market teams. These two franchises have been DOING IT RIGHT since their inception.

That's why, like the Spurs, the down years are going to be few and far between and, before you know it, the Celts will be back.

No doubt Danny has brought the Celtics back to relevance. The winning culture is back. See this as the resurrection of the Celts. Like most things, there are up and down years but I personally have nothing but hope for this team.

You know man... honestly it's going to sting at first.  But at least we're heading in a direction.  I hated the feeling of being a sitting duck franchise and I've had that feeling since Shaq went down... this feeling like we we had ankle weights on and were slowly sinking to the bottom of the sea with no floaty to save us.  Our window opened and closed... we'd absolutely be better next season if we kept KG, Doc and Pierce... but it's not going to result in a title.  So we might as well bottom out so we can jump off ocean floor and start swimming back up to the surface.

Sit still fellow celtic brethren and hold on tight. Rebuilding sucks but its gotta be done. Ive been a celtic fan since I was 10 years old - the glory days of Bird, Mchale and Parish; I've seen the dark ages during the Pitino era and back to the glory days of the Garnett/Pierce era.

We will be back. Hopefully the Rondo era ends up with multiple titles.
Peavey Bass Player - relearning to play after 10 years sucks;

Bottoming out was inevitable.  However, I'm a big believer that when a championship is at least within striking distance, you owe it to your plans and fan base to maximize that opportunity.

Sure, our odds of winning a title were slim, and were probably reliant on a Lebron injury.  However, I would still take those odds over the chances of our rebuilding efforts yielding a title contender within the next 5 years or so.

Play nice.

Perhaps you can share a bit about what it means to be a fan of a club instead of playing the playground bully.

Not everyone's with the popular crowd.

I appreciate the optimism.

Scary thought, though:  Rondo turns 28 next season.  It's going to be hard to put championship caliber players around him before he starts to decline.

Understand that for people who don't live in the US and thus never had a connection with the city the NBA team is playing in, what happens is fans follow players and learns to love the team afterwards. But it's because of the player that they followed the franchise, the team comes in second. That's just how it is for non-US based fans. So it's a legit question for those people, it's not because we "found a bandwagon" to ride with.
