I'm a big Larkin fan, but if we go with him at 16 I won't be happy.
To me the difference between Siva and Larkin is a jump shot. For an undersized point guard, if you can't shoot you are in deep trouble.
i would be happy. How many over 6'1 foot height pg's are there in the league that are actually good?? How many under that are good? (lots)
Larkin is a complete pg, can score, pass, shoot, defensive player award winner. And prob the most impressive factor can take over games. Enough times i've heard announcers say this when he has played.
I would also be satisfied by drafting Siva. He is an excellent FT shooter with a fluid shooting technique and prob hasn't had the need to shoot alot bc he is pretty hard to stop on the drive. In the nba, he will realize that he is going to need and get his jumper to work. I've rarely seen a player who can really shoot ft well , that cna't at least shoot a mid range jumper at a decent clip.
Two other pg's i wouldn't mind drafting are Pierre Jackson (Nate Robinson) and Ray Mccallum.
All of these guys have potential to start in the nba one day.
A lot of dominant point guards are over 6'1... Rose/Wall/Rondo isn't exactly over 6'1, but his wing span makes up for it. D-Will, Curry, Tony Parker, George Hill (isn't exactly dominant, but no scrub,) and Westbrook.
Need I go on?
Rose yes. Wall?? D will?? George hill??
Wall and Hill are not pure pg's . Curry is not a pure pg. I mean he looks for his own shot more often than not
D will has done nothing in his career to warrant he is elite.
Westbrook yes, Parker yes.
Larkins lack of elite size is a dumb reason to not consider him as a blue chip prospect. This is my point
Want whatever you're smoking...
You consider Westbrook elite, yet disregard the fact in which at some point D-Will dominated. Considered the face of the franchise by the Jazz...
George Hill no, but it doesn't matter... He's still a PG... Listed as a PG... Plays as a combo guard... But is still a PG by default by the NBA.
You list the 2 players I consider hybrid guards, yet refuse to believe D-Will/Wall as one. Rose, and Westbrook.
I'm not saying don't draft Larkin... He has a lot of talent, but his size will still be a huge factor that DA will look into. Doc Rivers has been criticized heavily for using small ball, so this will definitely be something he'll think hard about.
And by the way the league average is 6'1. Larkin is listed as 5'10 without shoes, and 5'11 with shoes... So even then hes definitely undersized.
