I think the Cavs are getting a bit impatient with their rebuilding process. The lack of progress being made. And now Kyrie Irving making some noises about being unhappy at the team's lack of winning. His contract is up in two years. Need to show they can compete for a title.
I think they are looking for an already established young-ish star to pair with Kyrie Irving. To make Kyrie happy and to get Cleveland back into the playoffs. I think they would rather that than another 25 win season and high draft pick.
I think this makes sense too.
I'd much rather a known effective player rather than a player who could potentially bust. Drafting a Olowakandi, kwame brown, tyson chandler, emeka okafor, or bargnangi could really hurt kyrie's chances of staying in cleveland.
As BleedGreen said, I think Greg Monroe is right around the threshold of the type of player they are considering moving the pick for. Anyone better than him I think would make sense to trade the pick for.
Whereas if the Cavs did not already have a great player in place, they would just keep the pick regardless with high hopes that the sky is the limit for this draft pick.
