It's a great year for New England basketball.

Yeah, he was a late-bloomer, I played against him in middle school, he wasn't even the best player on his team, let alone the best player in the Cape Anne League. He worked his tail off though and puberty certainly helped.

Yeah Scoonie Penn and Rick Brunson both from Salem, good players but didn't have the notable pro careers.

Yes, I played against MCW when he was a freshman as well.  Didn't remember the name and when I eventually had friends tell me he was going to Syracuse etc I was very surprised.  He must have developed well after that.

All the aussies on the board who followed the NBL during the 1990s will remember Dwayne McLain from Worcester. He spent 4 years at Villanova before being drafted by Indiana in 1985. Dwayne spent half a season with the Pacers before moving to Australia to play for the Sydney Kings, Gold Coast Rollers and Brisbane Bullets.

I'm pretty confident that Brett Brown is also from Boston. Up until last year he was coaching the Australian national team, but now he's currently working as an assistant coach with San Antonio.
