This year lottery picks: Nerlens Noel (Everett), Michael Carter-Williams (Hamilton)
Current Mcdonalds All-Americans: Wayne Selden (Roxbury) and Noah Vonleh (Haverhill)

Some guys worth mentioning who played High School ball in Mass. Remember, just because you play high school ball here doesn't mean you're from here. (I.e Beasley is from Maryland)
- Patrick Ewing (Cambridge)
- Michael Beasley (Fitchburg)
- Jarret Jack (Worcester)
- Francisco Garcia (Winchendon)
- Bruno Sundov (Winchendon)
- Travis Best (Springfield)
- Dan Gadzuric (Governor Dummer/Byfield)
- Dana Barros (Xaverian)
- Jammin' James Bailey (Xaverian)

Also, Jeff Adrien is from Brookline. Matt Bonner is from Concord, NH.

TP.  I totally missed the fact that Michael Carter-Williams is a local kid, as well.  Cool, Noel and Carter-Williams, along with Ledo and Murphy from RI in this year's draft.

It's a great year for New England basketball.

Yeah, he was a late-bloomer, I played against him in middle school, he wasn't even the best player on his team, let alone the best player in the Cape Anne League. He worked his tail off though and puberty certainly helped.

Pulling for him, did you see the story on his Mass. house burning down?

Scoonie Penn played in Salem, and I was sure he'd have a great pro career.

Yeah Scoonie Penn and Rick Brunson both from Salem, good players but didn't have the notable pro careers.

Yes, I played against MCW when he was a freshman as well.  Didn't remember the name and when I eventually had friends tell me he was going to Syracuse etc I was very surprised.  He must have developed well after that.

All the aussies on the board who followed the NBL during the 1990s will remember Dwayne McLain from Worcester. He spent 4 years at Villanova before being drafted by Indiana in 1985. Dwayne spent half a season with the Pacers before moving to Australia to play for the Sydney Kings, Gold Coast Rollers and Brisbane Bullets.

I'm pretty confident that Brett Brown is also from Boston. Up until last year he was coaching the Australian national team, but now he's currently working as an assistant coach with San Antonio.
