watched full games of 2012 and 2013 nike summit hoop games and also a number of games involving 2013 prospects

1. Magic - Burke = Still have him being chosen #1.  Just a combination of need, skills, clutch and near championship under his belt, will be too hard for the magic to pass up.

2. Bobcat - Mclemore = Has game + potential , went far in the tourney and is still very young. An upgrade to Henderson. Henderson will either be traded for assets or kept as a 6th man down the line.

3. Cavs - Noel = Acl injury brings him down to #3. Cavs need help everywhere. Risky but could end up being the best player drafted
4. Suns - Porter
5. Pelicans - Oliadipo
6. Kings - Muhammad
7. Pistons - Mcollum
8. Wizards - Bennett
9. Wolves - Zeller
10. Blazers - Caldwell Pope
11. 76rs - Plumlee
12. Okc - Dieng
13. Mavs - Olynyk
14. Jazz - Len
15. Bucks - Carter-Williams

16. Celtics - Saric =  You have to watch the 2012 hoop summit game from the beginning to the end to know that Saric was the real mvp. 13 pts, 14 rbs, 5 assists.  He was better than 90 percent of the usa team players. Unfairly he was coming in with some pro experience and already a summit game the year prior under his belt. Shot needs to be more consistent, but his handles, penetration, rebounding and especially passing is top notch.  He was directing/helping guys around the court like a QB. For 2013 it looks like his body has improved on top of gaining further pro experience. His size at 6'10/game reminds me of Magic Johnsons. There is a pretty good chance he gets picked much earlier but luckily for the celts , he can't come and play until 2014 that may turn off alot of teams.

17. Hawks - Adetokoubo
18. Hawks - Schroeder
19. Cavs - Jean Charles
20. Bulls - Larkin
21. Jazz - Withey
22. Brooklyn - Gobert
23. Pacers - Franklin
24. Knicks - Adams
25. Clippers - Mitchell
26. Wolves - Roberson
27. Nuggets - Brown
28. Spurs - Muscala
29. OKC - Green
30. Suns - Nogueira

2012-2013 summit games showed that there are top notch talent around the world outside of the US. Both year world teams won and were  better at team passing , less turnover prone and better defending. From the  2013 game, for the USA team Randle was the best player. Has Chris Webber written all over him. Just bulldozed to the baskets several times and looked unstoppable like a freight train. Parker was ok and Vonleh , Harrison need work. Wiggins played both games and i can see where the hype comes from relating to his athleticism and quickness. But his shooting is not as special as i thought it was.  His finishing capabilities the same. He missed quite a bit of shots and didn't make many easy passes for his teammates.  As he improves his body, experience, i can see the #1 label for 2014 but he doesn't look like the sure "next" thing from Lebron.  It wouldn't surprise me if Randle actually was the best out of the 2014 class.
Where did you watch the hoop summit? Was it on TV?

You lost me at the Magic comparison..

I wouldn't be opposed to draft Saric. I think there are higher ceiling prospects out there but his mix of NBA readiness and potential is appealing. Having watched the 2012 hoop summit the positive are he has good court vision, above average ball skills for 6'10, a good nose for the ball, shows hustle, and has a good frame. However the negatives are that he lacks athleticism, doesn't appear to have good fundamentals defending perimeter, has only average length, and has a suspect outside shot.

If he can add strength (maybe he has in last year) and play more around 240 than 220 than he may be able to defend more 4s and not open himself up to getting burnt on the perimeter. This coupled with refining his outside shot should make him an effective 4/3 in the style of Ersan Iilyasova but with less of an outside shot and a better ball handler.

Ford actually wrote an article recently comparing Saric to Magic. I would post it here but I don't have insider.

Why Magic and not somebody like Toni Kukuc?

What makes Saric more comparable to a Magic Johnson?

His lack of a jumper and average athleticism.

Saric per 40 stats this past season where 13pts 10rb 3.6 assists 3.9 To. If chad Ford is comparing this kid to one of the greatest bball players ever than he is nuts.

He is playing in a pro league already and is 1994 born.  Do you expect eye opening stats? Also the place he is playing at right now, is asking him to play full PF and not handle the ball as much. Which is a dumb strategy as handling the ball and passing is his top skills.

In terms of how he compares to Magic, its the way he can pull in guys towards him, and pass the ball to his teammates for easy buckets. Another magic trait was to post up, freeze the defense and find people cutting or make the pass to the key for open jump shots.  Even Saric has mentioned he has patterned his game after Magic's.

Magic no doubt one of the best that ever has played and Saric has an eternity to be like/accomplish like him. But a glimpse of his game/size does say Magic more than anyone else. Even shoots inconsistently like him. But in the end, he has a way to control, take over games. If he slips to us we should all feel lucky imo. Some scouts say he is a top 5 talent and would of been a top 5 pick if he played in NA college.

update: He can be bought out for 1.2 million to start playing as soon as next season

I guess another big issue is his buyout at 1.2 million euro. I think teams are only allowed so much money to use to buyout an int player. And the rest would be on Saric.  So this is the reason why Saric wants a guarantee to be chosen in the lotto.

Not sure in his part why he signed a recent contract with his euro club, if he was contemplating being drafted and coming to NA.

Giannis is floating all over the mock charts from 8th to 27th. Even though he has the height, handles and body control, i'm concerned about how skinny he is and that it may take a few years for him to get proper pro seasoned.  I guess if he is worth it, its better to wait.

Lastly i do have a feeling worse case if either of these terrific euro talents get chosen inside the lotto, someone good has to drop to us.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ledo's the pick if he impresses during workouts, maybe even if he doesn't.  He is extremely talented; there's nothing he can't do on the offensive end, including playing point guard.  He'd be a change from former Ainge picks as a wing player with a fantastic handle and passing ability.  Ainge seems to like going for home runs, value picks from the mid first round on.  He would certainly qualify.

I've been a big Jeff Withey fan but I might be persuaded into Allen Crabbe. Terrific catch n shoot guy. Would be great coming off curls and such.

Withey while dominated College with his shot blocking, may have a harder time in the NBA. And without his dominating shot blocking, he becomes a mere avg to less than avg center in the nba. The foot speed is a concern and ability to not get burned by the 3 sec rule inside the paint.

If he adj to the 3 sec rule and still dominates defensively, there will be pro about 10 teams that will kick themselves in the head for missing out.

Tony Snell is shooting up right now. Its not everyday you find a clutch 3 point shooter. 6'7 sg mainly though could also play sf, runs around like a headless chicken through screens or just plain tires his man out like Ray Allen does, catches and nails jump shots all over the court. Also has nice handles, quick , athletic and plays hard defense.  I can see him as a guy that just somehow will shoot up the ranks and also get danny's attention.  (on the minus just like Ray Allen, can be passive at times)

Right now it's either the 2 euro kids or someone like Snell/KCP. James Ennis also is an intriguing multi talented prospect. Lots of avail big players but the quality/translation to the nba doesn't seem promising.

I think withey is going to be very similare to steimsma . Great shot block ,good team defender , suspect man defender, and not factor on o. Definelty has a spot in nba but prob as a teams 3rd center. Early 2nd round yes but wouldn't want to draft him at 16.

I also agree that crabbe will be a good pro. He has the body and game to make a smooth transition to the nba. I

I hope Ainge finds a way to get BJ Young.  It seems like he's dropped off the draft radar after a disappointing sophomore season.  He's too talented to be overlooked.  His long-range shot really dropped off last season but otherwise, I really like him.  There's nothing he can't do on the offensive end.  He's a great ballhandler, has shots at all three levels, is very athletic and long like Ainge likes and has a very good basketball IQ.  Going by his stats, it's hard to say he can play point guard but I've seen him make enough point guard plays to think that he can.

Physically and skills-wise, he reminds me of George Hill but I like Young's playmaking ability more.

After the combine V3.0

1. Magic - Burke
2. Bobcat - Mclemore
3. Cavs - Noel
4. Suns - Porter
5. Pelicans - Oliadipo
6. Kings -  Mccollum
7. Pistons - Schroeder
8. Wizards - Bennett
9. Wolves - Zeller
10. Blazers -  Muhammad
11. 76rs - Len
12. Okc - Adetokoubo
13. Mavs - Saric
14. Jazz - Plumlee
15. Bucks - Carter Williams

16. Celtics - Glen Rice Jr.  - Celtics were one of the first teams to have interviewed Rice Jr.  It started on Wednesday apparently , which was when the combine didn't even start, and players were coming into the hotel.   The search to add another SF to supplement the loss of Pierce sounds like is already beginning. Rice jr. already has gone through crap by being kicked out of college, then going to Rio, fighting off Houston Rockets young guns for playing time, to pretty much being the mvp of the d league playoffs.  From an article he says something along the lines "I just shuts up  and play now" "has learnt from his mistakes" and I believe him. His screw up might be a blessing in disguise bc he has lotto talent. An excellent scorer that has a inside/outside game. Has a deadly shot but also can dunk over you. Rebounds and blocks shots at a high rate for his size.  Within the lotto the only other teams that have talked to Rice so far is the 76rs and Bucks.  But 76rs have a big need upfront with Bynum in limbo and Bucks need a pg with Jennings likely to not be extended.

17. Hawks -  Gobert
18. Hawks -  Caldwell Pope
19. Cavs - Olynyk

Unless it's Shabazz and his All Star potential, the last thing we need is another rotation type 2 guard.

Let's go big to help the reload or let's swing the fences by moving up. If Danny drafts Glen Rice Jr (dont hate him, i just dont see the purpose of it), unless he moves AB and/or Lee and/or to get something, then I'm on board with Glen Rice Jr. I see the potential and the shooting capabilities, but if we are going to draft him just to log jam our guards, well, you know what I would do.
