Only superstars can talk trash?  I guess everyone who claims that must be glad that Kendrick Perkins, Tony Allen, James Posey and the like are not Celtics (or are they superstars?). The truth is some fans just don't like some players.  That is perfectly okay, but do not have a double standard.  Just because you don't like them doesn't mean that they are doing something wrong.

If Perk, Tony, or Posey were talking trash after the buzzer in a game where they didn't play a minute, then yeah, they'd deserve the criticism.

Also, those guys were at least role players.  Crawford is a scrub.  It's more like if Gabe Pruitt was talking smack.

Crawford is still ahead of Lee this series.  He's played more minutes than Lee and Wilcox (he is our seventh rotation player).
Perk and Tony they get into actual fights.  Perk v Randolph comes to mind recently.  Tony beating up OJ Mayo (his own teammate.)Perk in his early years was a worse player than Crawford is, didn't mean he didn't have a bad attitude.

There wasn't even a fight!  JR Smith elbows Terry.  K-Mart and Tyson blatantly targeting KG.  The Knicks talk a ton of trash, wear funeral clothes etc.  You guys are mad because a Celtic talked back?

All year long people complain we have no toughness, no instigators, no fighters.  Well it looks like we have one guy willing to fight.  People are worried about getting the Knicks worked up? They are already worked up!  They went up 3-0!  We are the ones that need to get worked up.  We are the ones that is up against history, fighting for our lives.  We can't do that if we don't fight and claw, tooth and nail for every last inch.

I guess the difference is that you think it's a sign of toughness for a nobody to talk trash from the bench in a game he didn't play in.  I see it as a sign of being a punk.  I expect it from someone like Quentin Richardson, but not from any of our Celtics.

Crawford still has that Wizards' mentality.  Hopefully he grows up some day.

And that day better come quickly, given his negative contributions in this series. He looks for the world like a candidate for the waiver wire at the moment.

I think he has a guaranteed contract for next year, they'll have to come up with another way of disposing of him.

LOL
I'm not even GOING to get into a discussion about how I think it's totally...uh...out of line...for some us to be calling J. Crawford a "thug", "buffoon" and other things.

But I'll leave it alone.

Also, don't be so hypocritical guys.
The pressure is on the KNICKS...not the CELTICS.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
He's classless. According to the twittersphere Crawford made an inappropriate comment about Melo's wife. Moron.

So did KG. Is he a moron?

I am way less bothered by it from KG.

 ::)

It's trash talking in sports. Happens all the time. I don't mind it from KG, Crawford, or anyone.

Superstars can talk trash, because they can back it up.  Scrubs who get DNP-CDs, though?  They should keep their mouths shut and wave a towel, M.L. Carr style.

I don't agree Roy. It's about sticking up for your team and your city. He didn't play but he has played and if you we're sitting on that bench, listening to him whine & complain about every phantom foul, AND the wearing black for a funeral stunt. Remember Crawford is on the team, he goes to breakfast and dinner with these guys every day. These are his brothers and he's obviously happy to be a part of the franchise.
These guys have mouthed off, worn black walked around like their they're shish don't stink. So whatever Crawford said, it was justified. It's our own opinion whether or not it's fuel to the knicks fire, but personally I love the fact that LaLa is caught up in a social media episode now-more junk for Melo to become distracted by and think about.
Call Crawford a scrub all you want, but he's just sticking up for his brothers after the Knicks tried to humiliate his team and his city. Once again, we also don't know what context this was in. You're assuming that Crawford just out of the blue said 'Ill eff you up' but we don't know what the Knicks said either. I know Crawford's a certified knucklehead but so are the guys he's mouthing off to.

Crawford being sentenced by association, without a trial...I feel like we should be sticking up for him in this instance, not just assuming it's all his fault.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Wow, you really don't like Crawford, do you? I understand that he isn't the most mature kid, but he is hardly a scrub - averaging 13 ppg over 25 mpg in his first three years in the league. I get that it was mostly as a Wizard, but he has talent and has certainly shown glimpses.

The kid is a career 40% field goal shooter, who hits 30% from three.  Those are terrible numbers for a SG, and are scrub level.

Then, there are his numbers from this series.  4.5 points, 33% shooting, more turnovers than assists and rebounds combined, a 3.0 PER.  That's in a healthy 14 minutes per game.  Crawford got deservedly benched.  Calling him a scrub in this series is probably an insult to scrubs everywhere.

Crawford is absolutely the last guy who should be opening his mouth.

  Crawford has officially been one-upped:

I might mention that Royce White has looked fairly "SHAAAKY BAAABBY" himself this year, but I'm afraid his lawyers would come after me.

If Melo or Felton have bad games tomorrow and we win the game, I really, really hope we have the wisdom to praise the defense from the players that actually performed it rather than the jawing from an end of the bench guy at the end of a win he didn't contribute to.

"See how Carmelo Anthony hefted up that desperation attempt at the end of the shot clock, even though he had two hands in his face? Thanks, Jordan Crawford, you dopey looking modern day Oscar Wilde! Without you needlessly taking a verbal cheap shot on the way to the locker room, none of this would be possible! Huzzah! Huzzah I say! Huzzah!"

If this whole thing doesn't show you how mentally fragile the knicks are, I'm not sure what to tell you. But ok, guy!

In general, I don't believe in post game trash-talking, but I might find it acceptable in a playoff series due to the continuity. I think any mind games players want to do is fair game. Still, I find it pathetic for an irrelevant player to talk trash.

If you want class, ditch KG and Pierce and bring back Ray Allen. I'm fine with us lacking class. It works for KG and Pierce.

Ha, Im not saying that the Knicks are mentally strong or anything. What Im saying is that Jordan Crawford yipping at like some hyperactive terrier from behind the window of a ford focus at Melo isn't important, and isn't worth congratulating him about.

Think about it.

IF the Knicks and Melo are so mentally mercurial that Crawford's trash talk rattles them enough force a terrible performance in game 6, THEN one would have to believe Garnett's constant talk, and the Celtics inspired defense and overall play would be FAR more damaging to their fragile psyches, by an order of magnitude.

So even if your premise is correct, your possible causality with Crawford is invalid.

And by the same token, if Melo gets hot tomorrow and it goes bad for the celtics, did Crawford do that as well, or did the Celtics hypothetical lapses in defense allow that to happen?

This is mostly where I fall on this. I don't care what was said, I think who said it, and when is ridiculous.

I don't understand why this is even news

I don't either. I mean I don't really see this as news but I'm surprised at how deep tha pages are in this thread. But there is always that one fan that has to pick at and point out every little thing a player does.

But what can you do? This board gives us tha opportunity to talk about a variety of things.

I don't know Melo well enough to know if this will fire him up for the next game.   What did he do after KG made his remarks that will be our best indicator.

Anytime a bench player, whom we don't have to play, is angering a starter of the other I think it can have benefit of sorts.  However, it is very thugish and I have never like goons that antagonize other teams unless they were on the C's.

Personally, I think when you don't play you should not talk.
