Not that this is relevant to this thread but since ML was brought up, I remember as a kid going to a Mavericks/Celtics game back in the mid or early 80s, and in the pregame warmups ML Carr bounced a ball from the free throw line, off the backboard, caught it in the air, and reverse slammed it with two hands.
I thought that was the most incredible thing I'd ever seen anyone do, so naturally I thought ML was a superstar player. Its amazing how good and athletic the towel wavers are in the NBA.
Later in high school I saw a Bobby Knight coaching video on shooting with Steve Alford. Alford was doing shooting drills from mostly the three point line demonstrating shooting drills while Knight was talking about them. It was a half hour or so video with Alford shooting the whole time, one shot after the other, no editing, one camera shot, and he never missed. Hit every shot the entire video and I'm not sure he ever got a shot off in the NBA. OK, I'm exaggerating a tad bit, but he was never even a regular rotation player for some pretty bad teams.
These guys are all just amazing at what they do.
