Terrence Williams looks like the closest thing we have to something resembling a point guard when he's on the floor. Not a knock on Avery, guys just either "are" or "are not" point guards.

I think game 5 is a real good opportunity to play Terrence a little more, let him attack on the break and let him get us into our sets.

I know it's an elimination game but I'd still throw him into the spotlight and the pressure to see how he does and I'd probably do it early in the game.

Let him match up with J.R defensively and run the point offensively.

Perhaps pair him with JT so you've got some outside shooting.

I think we could benefit from using him a bit more tonight.

Thoughts?

PLay him in a similar role to game 4. I agree that he should be on JR early and often

i like the idea...but it's a gamble on Doc's part...if it works he looks like a genius...if it doesn't...he looks like a goat...only Doc knows...

Yeah, it's a gamble for Doc, agreed. Personally I'd absolutely take the gamble.

I look at these things like this. You put the kid in, see how he does. If he's holding his own or excelling, let him keep running. If he's struggling right away, pull him out, try him a little later for a couple minutes.

I don't see how anyone could end up pinning a possible loss on Doc for playing TWill for 3 minutes early in the game...

I always thought Phil Jackson was great at that. He'd throw a guy in there you wouldn't expect to see and at critical times. And if the guy was doing well, he might end up playing an entire quarter - I loved that about Jackson.

if someone had it going, even a marginal player, he'd run with it...If not, he'd pull them, try 'em again later...

Doc is down to his last chips at 4 AM Saturday night in Vegas. I think the only certainties are that Pierce and KG will get all the minutes they can handle, other than that we shouldn't be surprised by anything.

I personally have a feeling that Doc will throw Lee out there first, to see if he has anything to offer. If not, he will turn to TWill.

Agreed on Lee, good point. maybe Lee is so p---ed that he'd been iced by Doc he will come out and play possessed D on JR...That is also worth a shot.

I believe T-Will will get a stronger role in the game tonight. Even though his last game wasn't anything impressive, it could be attributed to playoff game jitters which most inexperienced players do experience at times.

I'm hoping he can take this as a opportunity to do his best, and try to find the open man. Terrence Williams is probably one of the strongest threats next to Green, Bradley, and Pierce in terms of scoring. I've watched his college, Nets, and Rockets games and you'd be floored at how easily he takes it to the basket, or pulls up in the mid range jumper.

Let T-Will guard Felton, or JR Smith, and let him try to run plays. I believe giving the bench players like Shav and T-Will/Crawford will refresh the needed rest our starters need.

My boy T-Will did his thing tonight. I was hoping to see him for more than 5-10 minutes and I did and he made tha most of his time allowed. I always wanted Doc to use him for his ball handling skills to limit turnovers but he's capable of more.

It was a gamble but Doc cashed out tonight. He got his moneys worth. I hope he stays with him. I like tha idea of using him on Smith too. Maybe even Felton. But Bradley is in a funk right now. So maybe that forced Doc's hand. If only Doc could gamble on Lee and put him back out on tha floor. That may be pushing it but I want them to limit Smith and Felton as much as possible.

He definitely saved their bacon tonight.  Still a little jittery once they get into the offense, but that's very understandable.  Hopefully that will settle in in Game 6.  Being able to break a press and slow Felton down a bit made him invaluable.

The biggest problem with the Celtics offense this series has been how long and how far from the hoop it's been for the Cs to get into sets.  When you start attacking the hoop with 8 seconds left on the shot clock, the defense has to make only a few rotations to stop you.

Williams gets them into sets better, and he can break down defenders and drive if needed. He's also good at tracking down long defensive boards - Rondo Rebounds, that have been going to the Knicks as offensive rebounds the first four games of the series.

The other benefit to playing Williams is not playing Avery Bradley, who has been incredibly bad this series.  This series, AB has 30 points (in 36 shots) and 7 assists (to 10 TOs) in 164 minutes.  That's got to be some of the weakest stats ever for a playoff series.

Actually wished they played him more: thought the captain was on fumes by the end of the game

Not to pile on the Captain, but he really needs to stop initiating the offense.

The plays/his decisions at the end of the game are worth piling on.  Move the ball around dude.  You are losing the ball in some capacity literally every possession when you are handling it (sometimes he managed to recover it) and if you are being guarded by Shumpert, that's not a mismatch.

Green should have been touching the ball more and so should have Terry.  That's a legit criticism and if the Knicks had hit a couple BS shots (certainly something JR and Melo do) then we could have lost with that kind of play.
