he's not worth the money he is going to get from someone.

He's worth over a hundred million dollars, guaranteed. He's definitely worth the max, if not more.

No he's not. He will never be the guy to lead a team to a title, so imo he's not worth the max.

He's an immature, weak minded loser in the body of a superstar center.

You can't deny his natural ability, no matter what. 18.3/12.9/2.2 plus DPOY talent is worth the max, whether you and I like it or not :-\

someone will give him the max, but he's certainly not worth it. He will not lead a team to a title. If you want to pay the max to a guy who quits on his team, blames others, and makes dumb plays, good for you

He has already lead a weak team to the finals.

He is a max player and I would love to see him on the Celtics.  He is the best big man in the NBA, whether or not you like his personality.

His team got crushed in the finals. He made it to the finals because the rest of the EC was weak (KG was injured). It's not his personality I don't like, it's his work ethic, competitiveness, and basketbal IQ. Those things won't change. There are better big men in the league, and he also hasn't been the same since back surgery.

I guarantee that if we were to sign him, you will regret it after one season.

Didn't they say that about Lebron when he first made it to the finals?

No, if a miracle happened and the Celtics got Howard, I would expect Ainge to do what the Lakers failed to do, build a team around Howard's strengths and once again be a contender.

TP - why anybody would argue against acquiring Howard [someway, somehow] is beyond me. Every Celtic fan would be jumping for joy if we got a player of his caliber.

Unfortunately, I can't see it happening unless the Lakers are really fond of Jeff Green and are interested in a couple of picks along with filler contracts.

There some people here snobbing DH12...Beacause they are happy with Wilcox. But I see difficult to happen beacuse Cs GM recenlty has a hobby to shop player in chinese league

One, I don't think  any poster here prefers Wilcox to Howard. the arguments being presented are that the celtics can not afford Howard due to cba rules and the more competitive packages of playes/picks other teams can offer in a sign & trade scenario block the celtics on that route.

Some posters, it seems to me, blieve that Howard and the costs associated with getting him are not as good as having some other good center plus rondo and a supporting cast. I agree and also think this is more realistic, if remote.

Two, I am curious how many boxes we can quote on cb.  ;D I bet we can do at least 10 more.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Let's not. He's nothing but a Dwightmare.

We can give him the LLE or vet min for a 1 year deal so he can rebuild his value, right??  ::)

What a letdown season for him. I wish the guy full health . . .but I don't see him being a top 5 player ever again just based on attitude and skill set.

Is better to have DH12 or Wilcox+Randolph+White?

that's a useless comparison, you will never get Dwight for Wilcox, Randolph, and White, or for their salaries combined plus draft picks.

I mean..Is better to get DH12 who is gonna play 40 min/game or having Wilcox+Randolph+White who stay all time on the bench and doing noting???

This ignores all reality. Look at the salaries of the players. Look at the salary cap of the team. Would The Celtics prefer a starting five of the entire first-team All--NBA? who wouldn't but it it makes zero sense to compare the reality of any NBA team to a hypothetical impossibility.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Do what you can to go at him hard. I'm not in love with Dwight's personality or his antics, but he makes almost any team a contender. Pair him with Rondo and you have a legitimate core to start building around.

I've lost a lot of respect for him this year.

I wish we could.

The only we can make it happen is similar to what we did to get KG and Ray in '07.

First, try to get another big name like Josh Smith

Then, Dwight might consider coming to a team with Rondo, Smith, Paul and KG.

Of course the BIG roadblock is cap space and we don't have any.

The only we could make that work is if we restrucutre Pierce/KG's contracts and just try to get rid of Terry, Bass, Lee and if need be, Jeff Green.

  Andrew Bynum's a free agent?

I watched a few minutes of the game today, luckily it was when DH was tossed. Eerily reminiscent of the meltdown they had vs Dallas.

No, thank you. I'd rather have Oden in wheelchair than a healthy D12. This guy is a locker room cancer and a big distraction on the team he's playing.

I don't think I could pull for any team with him on it. He's not a winner.

I think this should also be considered.

Regardless of what you think of Howard, I believe (could be wrong) sooner or later he's going to win an NBA title.

He's too talented a player not to. So, if that's the case, why shouldn't it be with the Celtics (that's if we had the money to sign him.)

Get Dwight, say goodbye to KG. He'll retire long before he'll play with that "clown."

And do you really want the guy replacing KG - the guy who most embodies the Celtic spirit - to be Dwight Howard...?

He's a defensive player. He'd be much better playing under Doc than D'Antoni. That said I dont think we have the cap room to sign him even if we wanted to and the Lakers are going to do everything in their power to retain him

A) Talent isn't entitled to championships. There is a long list of some of the most talented people to ever play basketball that never won a championship.

B) More subjective, but watching basketball is fun, rooting for teams is fun, but, at least for me, I enjoy rooting for players I enjoy. At this point, rooting for Dwight Howard isn't fun for me. I don't really see that changing, personally. I love Rondo, not just because he is a Celtic, but because I find to him to be a fascinating, entertaining player. Howard just doesn't do much for me aesthetically, personally, in style. Now, one can say winning at all cost but if it ain't enjoyable, eh....
