I've been mentioning it, which is why I've been suggesting possible trade destinations for him. It depends on how we do the rebuild though, as Who said. I think Rondo + Lee to the Jazz for Al Jeff/Milsap and picks is pretty good. Another is Rondo for Asik and Houston draft picks (they have valuable picks). Because of Rondo's contract, it'll be hard getting equal value for him.
why in the world are so many people interested in having al jefferson back?
let that sentiment go.
and i also don't see the point of trading rondo for al. it makes no sense...you're not getting as much 'talent' back.
in the meantime, I think Rondo would possibly stay. could build his legacy. Make him the man in charge. I think if we got some more talent from somewhere else, like a good big who's underrated, we would do well. I still think a Rondo/Jeff core would be good. Let's also not act like AB isn't tons better with a Rondo. If you're so into vets, I say keep a guy like Terry...maybe even get Jason Collins back...or Steamer or something. I think Shav can contribute a lot more than what he has. Sully will (hopefully) be back.
We'll probably continue to be a 6-8 seed (iN THE EAST), but I think we'll be okay. And eventually we would land a good star.
I wouldn't mind Jefferson back, but not for Rondo. There is no point in that. Bring Jefferson in would be to play with Rondo and still compete. I mean if Jefferson was leaving and Utah wouldn't mind a guy like Jeff Green, I would certainly do something like that. I'd even throw in Bradley if I had to.
Jefferson
for
Green, Bradley, Melo
Boston then uses the MLE on a back-up SF and with Jefferson, KG, PP, Lee, and Rondo would be a pretty good team especially with Crawford, Terry, Bass, and Sullinger on the bench. Not sure they could beat the Heat, but would certainly have a much better chance.
no lol
trade a guy who's avging 20 and 6 rebs as a 3rd option starter, Bradley who would be our ONLY defensive presence (understand we are talking about KG and PP retiring here) and a guy that has a decent amount of potential...for Al Jefferson?
Way too sentimental for me. I'm not that interested in a team that includes Al Jeff, KG and PP...maybe years ago, sure. I'm just not confident in KG returning and being healthy, and I'm not confident PP will want to stick around for another 'on-the-fly' rebuild.
I really think our best bet is to go into a full rebuild mode where we aren't that concerned with getting a ring. It's awful to think about but nothing is working. I think Rondo to Jeff will give us some great things. Sully back and possibly being stronger and he's lost more weight -- this could be wonderful. You might keep Bass. I definitely think you still keep AB because even tho AB is being exposed by Felton, AB + Rondo do great things. They cover each OTHERS weaknesses.
So for me..AB/Rondo/Jeff/Sully and a good big for the Celtics sounds good to me. I'd take that one guy from Detroit (my mind is slipping), I'd even take a Larry Sanders, Blatche, Gortat, etc. They just need to be able to rebound. And look, if Shav has to do it, I'd be ok with that too.
If we got Al Jeff for not much. I might trade you Melo/Bass for him...or Lee and Bass for him.
