I will see first how healthy is gonna be Rondo after surgery. Remember Yao Ming story...
Foot injuries like Yao's have a long history of becoming chronic in big men.

ACL injuries in guards usually don't, especially if the rest of the knee is in good shape structurally.

Yao is also 7 foot 6 inches. And he was playing for China in the Off Season. Centers usually have the toughest time coming back from injuries they are bigger and heavier therefore it's harder to recover.

But anything is possible. But I hope Rondo recovers well, and picks up where he left of.

Some Soccer players with same surgery story, never comeback or get injured after few months. Remeber Ruud Gullit

Why did Paul Pierce decide to stick around back in 2006?

Rondo's tear supposedly was not a full tear as well, and he looks to be recovering faster than Rose so far. I expect him to be fully healthy a year from now.

ACL injuries are more evident in the skills and motion that soccer requires. Just saying.

Realistically it will take us 3-4 seasons AT LEAST to get back to being a perennial 50+ win team.  By that time, Rondo will be in his early 30s and a lot of the athleticism that allows him to take over games at times (speed, agility, skying for rebounds etc) will be gone.

As others have said, it's probably in the interests of both parties to trade Rondo for a sub-25 year old prospect once he plays his way back from the injury and restores his trade value.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Why doesn't anyone mention this? If Pierce, and KG retire or move on, why exactly would a 27 year old Rondo want to be a part of a rebuilding team? Also, why would management want to have Rondo as part of a rebuilding situation knowing he might become disgruntled with all of the losing that might take place until the team returns to relevance?

I'm somehow reminded of all the posters who claimed that we needed to trade Rondo after the CP3 trade rumors because all he was going to do was sulk the next season.

Others undoubtedly come back healthy. They do in all other sports.
