Why would Rondo want to stick around for a rebuild?

Why doesn't anyone mention this? If Pierce, and KG retire or move on, why exactly would a 27 year old Rondo want to be a part of a rebuilding team? Also, why would management want to have Rondo as part of a rebuilding situation knowing he might become disgruntled with all of the losing that might take place until the team returns to relevance?

It depends on how bad the rebuild is.

* If it is 15-25 win seasons, then he won't want to stay. And Danny probably couldn't do this anyway with Rondo on the roster so a parting of the ways in both parties interests.
* If it is 2-3 years at 35-45 wins, there is a chance. Competitiveness + promise of major additions in near future.
* If it is a quick bounce back to 50+ wins, he will want to stay. Chance to contend in near future.

I've been mentioning it, which is why I've been suggesting possible trade destinations for him. It depends on how we do the rebuild though, as Who said. I think Rondo + Lee to the Jazz for Al Jeff/Milsap and picks is pretty good. Another is Rondo for Asik and Houston draft picks (they have valuable picks). Because of Rondo's contract, it'll be hard getting equal value for him.

Rondo would want to be here to prove that he is good enough to carry a team on his own. If he is able to lead this team with consistent play he will become the best pg in the league.

Because he's under contract and his getting paid? That's not exactly a musical wish there.
