I'm just glad Rondo wasn't playing. We would have lost by even more! /s

Blow up the team!
Trade Rondo for a garbage can!

Seriously get a hold of your selves, this serie is not over at all. Still wide open for both teams to win it!
Jack of all trades, master of none.

Hyperbole at the very worst.

We are Celtics fans, people, we shouldn't quit so easily.

This was a nice run but it is time to move on.

What does moving on mean? Like, we should hurry up and trade Garnett and Pierce before game 2?

What is the matter with being realistic? Nobody is advocating the team should quit and the third stringers should start for the remainder of the playoffs... but after tonight's performance, it seems pretty likely the Celtics don't have it this year. What about losing emphatically gives you so much hope?

  • GOT IT!!!
Knicks aren't good enough to close this team out in anything less than 6. I doubt they can do it in Boston either. An underdog C's team will still make them earn it.

What makes you think the Knicks aren't good enough?

Their defense?
Their scoring?
Their crunch time closing?

I dunno. They look like a complete team.

KG goes 4-12, the C's have 20 turnovers yet are still in the game late. You think that happens against Miami?

Game.  Season.  Over.

That is quitting to me.  That is giving up.  Saying that after one game in a 4 to 7 game series is quitting.  Optimism doesn't mean being unrealistic.

I swear to god I've hear people on this forum call single-digit losses "emphatic" too many times now...

You are doing the same thing he did. By saying "That is quitting" just by responding to the title of this thread, you are generalizing.

The reason he posted such a thread was because of how ABYSMAL the team played tonight. Did you miss the game?

The Cs were on the road, played like crap offensively, and lost by a whopping 7 points.  I don't see how anyone can be making a declaration that the season is over based on this game.

I love the way the Rondo fanatics come out after a loss. But during wins, you all are MIGHTY quiet.

It's one game.
I'm not about to start jumping to conclusions.

Apparently you have never heard of the "Miami Heat"

We lost to the Hawks last season by nine in game one on the road. The Rondo touching the ref game I think. And we still won that series ni 6. So there is still hope on my part. I like the defense we played today. Doc is a good coach and im hoping he can make some good adjustments to get the offense going more.

Might as well start discussing the draft and what old folks home we are putting Jason Terry in. He was 0-5. A guy we pay to score. 0-5. Nice one Danny, nice one.

Kenyon Martin 10pts, 9rbs 2blks. Shavlik Randolph DNP. Nice one Danny, nice one.

Thought we were better without Rondo? Did you watch the fourth quarter? Yeah, you can zip it now. That is what a fourth quarter in the playoffs looks like. Without a true point guard you are toast.

By every account we could have won this game. We played great defense on the road but as usual we can not score anymore when it counts.

Pierce and KG just do not have that ability to put a team on their backs anymore. Terry woke up old last offseason and Doc was fooled into thinking that Terry still had it. Jeff Green just does not have the killer instinct. I think he was 1-5 in the second half.

This was a nice run but it is time to move on. Today certainly proved it.

This was an ugly game, but there is a lot of positive to take out of it.

For starters, we played horribly today.  We played solid defense, but this was one of the worst offensive games I've seen us play all year.

The only three guys who scored in double figures (Green, Pierce, Bradley) had 16 turnovers between them.

The other 5 guys who played combined for 16 points on 29% shooting.

Our two best players, Pierce and KG, combined for 29 points on 37% shooting.

Despite all of this we were leading for three quarters and had a very good chance to win this game on the road, agaisnt the 2nd seed in the East.

Several bad passes by AB, Pierce and JG basically cost us this game in hindsight, and even with our poor shooting night we probably would have one the game if not for those 5 or 6 very avoidable turnovers where we basically gave them free chances.

If we can play some of the worst basketball of the season and lose to the Knicks by 7 on the road (considering we are a terrible road team this year) things can get a lot worse.

I'm all about the optimism. I don't think the Cs win the series, but I also don't care for negativity when things look bleak - just makes the losses more disappointing.

But, it does suck to think about the future. I kind of hope KG walks after this season - he has had a long run, looks tired, body breaking down, and I'd like to see him go out with dignity. Paul after one more year, maybe; think he has two left at a pretty high level, just don't see why he would return to the Cs.

Seems pretty likely we're headed for the worst place to be - no man's land (e.g., Hawks). Teams aren't contending anymore without superstars, not even with the foreseeable restrictions caused by the new CBA. And unfortunately, we don't seem likely to land one for a long time. Wouldn't be surprised to see Lebron take a few consecutive O'Briens. :/
