If Rondo is the best player on the C's, that means the C's lack talent and are in pretty bad shape. Rondo cannot/should not be the best player on any team that has title aspirations.

Unless the 2ND and 3Rd best players are future hall of famers, cagey smart veteran leaders who just aren't quite what they were in their prime.

Bottom line is I agree with this thread...there's just not enough talent and something is totally missing without rondo on this team, an emptiness...the lack of talent is without him.

Well in the Miami series last yr if your name wasn't Lebron, he was the best in the ENTIRE series. Him and KG kept the team going.

Rondo had a great series against Miami. But if you notice in that series he was hitting his jumper at an insane clip. He was even draining multiple 3 point shots. If he played like that all the time he would be Chris Paul. But we all know Rondo cannot play like that all the time. Rondo is a limited player whose skill set is unique. In my opinion he does not have the offensive tools to be the best player on a title team. Rondo is best as a complimentary player.

With the way Rondo plays I don't think he wants to be "The Guy"..he can score off the dribble at will, but he's more content with making plays, IF he has to be a scorer he can be,I just think it's not in his mindset..sorta like Kg (who doesn't focus on scoring).

You don't have to be a score-first player to be "The Guy".

Yes you have to, and you know it

This is kind of a moot point. Rondo's been the best player on the Celts on teams that have gone deep in the playoffs, and has been the dominant player in many if not most of our wins. People who don't get this can still claim that he's not our "best" player because he doesn't lead the team in scoring. Everybody wins.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
i mean, it's not like we've never had a low scoring quarter with Rondo...
I just think this whole 'Rondo' thing is you alls security blanket. When will we get over it and just accept the team we have?
lol smh...it's ridiculous, man.
We have, but we usually can at least make some plays in the fourth quarter. When's the last time you saw us score this low amount of points in the playoffs in the 4th or any quarter?

we scored 8 with Rondo once. in February I think. that was the 3rd quarter.
Knicks scored 18 pts. It's not like they blew us out that quarter. The defense was fair. I think it makes more sense to take a look at the wide open shots we missed vs what we woulda done with a completely different team. that changes the whole game and not necessarily for the better.

Yesterday's 8 points in the 4th quarter was the lowest scoring quarter in franchise playoff history.
I like Marcus Smart

I miss him, too.

He'll be back next year - better than ever.

But we have enough to make some noise this post-season.

Best line of the thread

Thank you. That doesn't happen with Rondo out there.

True, but the Knicks will say...
"Hey, we played this badly and still beat Boston? We got this series in the bag!"

Yeah I guess depends on how you look at it.

I just can't get past the 8 point 8 turnover 4th for the C's. It literally had to be one of if not the worst quarter in Celtics history

I wouldn't put it like that;  I wouldn't say that we lost because of Rondo, but I would say that we would have a much better chance at winning if we had him.

Unfortunately, we don't have him, but I still think we have the talent and experience to beat the Knicks without him.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I'm almost on that line of thinking...the fact that they didn't lose by double digits is pretty amazing, BUT JR wasn't really hitting his stride and Chandler was nonexistent...that may change in Game 2.

Honestly, they lost the game because they forgot that the Knicks wasn't on their team when they passed the ball. If they valued the possessions more, they had that game.

Much better?? You remember last game when Rondo played Vs Hawks? Dont you?! ...
Last second of 3qrt Cs had the lead 70-63...This one has no connection with Rondo. Is not fair to connect every lost game with Rondos absence.
