I don't agree that the Celtics are better than the Knicks and I am not sure how anyone can come to that conclusion after watching today's game.

Granted, the Celts are CAPABLE of beating the Knicks but to say they're a better team? I am not buying it.

The Knicks have too many good role players right now alongside Anthony like Kidd, Martin, Felton and JR Smith. Kidd and Martin in particular sorta remind me of the likes of Posey, PJ Brown and Rasheed. Veteran players who come up big at the right time.

When you have guys like that, they're going to be a hard team to beat. What bothers me is today the Knicks were certainly beatable, YET the Celts still couldn't win.

I think the question that now begs to be asked is whether it was a wise decision to rely on a 36 year old KG and a 35 year old Paul Pierce to carry us in the playoffs.

And don't get me started on Jason Terry.

Four games out of six. How hard could that be, with three games in Boston? Just gotta steal one of three.

Nice concetualization of the season. Definitely overly-optimistic here, but I like the optimism. And your argument is well-grounded.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I think you're right now that Chandler is questionable.
We have the better defense, they are just finding a way to make some incredibly low percentage shots and I just can't see those shots falling for an entire 7 game series, let alone a run to the finals.

I think New York was lucky to come out of this alive.
I'm actually really p---ed with Avery. His defense is so good but he gave them 12 points on a platter.
Cut down turnovers and we win this series.

The Knicks have too many good role players right now alongside Anthony

This gets to the heart of why I think the Knicks are a much better team.

Not only do they have the best player in the series -- Anthony, a superstar scorer -- they also have a number of effective role players who complement him.

The Celtics have a few good players.  Pierce and Garnett are still quite good though no longer super stars.  Green and Bradley are each capable of making a big impact in any given game, though not consistently.

The Celtics really lack reliable role players.  Game to game, it's impossible to say what we're going to get from pretty much anybody on the team other than Pierce and Garnett.  There are no rebounders, no "designated shooters", no primary ball handler, no "dirty work" guys.  That's an area where the Celtics really miss Sullinger and Barbosa, not to mention guys like Ray Allen, Keyon Dooling, Greg Stiemsma.

I disagree with the notion that the Knicks have "too many good role players" for the Celtics to beat.

I consider Avery Bradley, Courtney Lee, Jordan Crawford, and most importantly Brandon Bass as role players who can make a difference. We need at least two of these guys to score 15 a game, every game. Then we need Jeff, KG and Pierce to dominate while not making 6 turnovers.

With our defense, we don't many points to win: we just need to get them. (no more 8-point fourth-quarters)

PS Jason Terry could make a difference too

Yup. Alot of times it gets overlooked how important a good bench is. But lest we forget when we won the title in 08 and made it to the finals in '10 that our bench contributed just as much as our starters.

C's are not the better team at the moment -- not with Rondo and Sully out.

couldn't help thinking this team is in desperate need of a good PG after watching Bradley throwing the ball away several times.  Rondo would have been more than enough of a difference to beat the Knicks.

one depressing thing to consider, the Knicks didn't really crash the O boards most of the game.  if they had, we'd have been further behind earlier in the game.

This.

Plus they got the best player in Melo. They are talent-ridden, have more younger talented players and possess more athleticism.

For Doc, maybe he should find ways (to recreate?, reinvent?) to make Jordan, Lee and TWill more productive. I guess this is one major way of keeping us competitive (er, alive?!)in the series.

We would be better than the Knicks if we had Rondo. We don't. Ergo, Knicks will best us. I anticipate Cs win at least two games, and keep it interesting game to game, but its clear we are in "post Big Three" era.

I still believe the celtics win in 6. That was my prediction before the series started and I see no reason at all to change it.

I think the Knicks are over rated.  I do think we are a better team with RR.   I think we are old.  I think we'd have been better off not making the playoffs and being in the lottery as well in the long run.

Disagree...lack of talent without Rondo for the Celtics.
