One last note: Boston tends to excel when they can focus on one team and then build a strategy against them. We're an intelligent veteran team that knows how to adapt to our opponent. I wouldn't be surprised to see us lose this first game... and then win the next 4. That's just the way we are.
Yup... we lost the first game. That was expected. We have a history of losing the first game and adjusting. Let everyone have their hissy fit panic attacks... it's like they haven't followed the Celtics before.
Right on cue... Pierce with 39 minutes and KG with 37. We held the Knicks to 85 points. Our bench contributed a total of 0 field goals and we had 20 turnovers. We only lost by 7. Not bad. Chaulk it up to rust... the Celtics haven't played real basketball for over a month.
Not worried. We'll sweep the next 4.

i'll bet you 25 tommy points they do not. deal?
Sure. I'll take that bet on the condition that KG and Pierce both play the next 4 without serious injuries and average their typical 37 and 39 minutes. Boston will sweep the next 4 games.
deal but only considering no MAJOR injuries. i cannot make doc give them that many minutes. i wish you were right. but my gut has said otherwise after watching this crapfest of coaching by doc all year with smallball and jumpshots.
Check previous playoffs... KG has his minutes increased from 30 to 37... Pierce has his minutes increased from 34 to 39. It's our playoff rotation. Tonight, right on cue, Pierce with 39 and KG with 37.
I liked what I saw from them. Their shooting was off, but otherwise they gave solid effort. Green gave us what we wanted. Bradley had a solid game. I thought Bass was effective guarding Melo. We limited JR Smith. Then turnovers were a concern, but there's no way we turn it over 20 times the next game. THere's also no way our bench goes scoreless the next game. They took 14 more fieldgoal attempts than we did... we can't let that happen again.
I wouldn't diss Doc. Boston has a great track record of adjusting during playoff series and finding ways to win. They are a savvy veteran team and one of the best at pinpointing weaknesses and exploiting matchups. They'll review footage, figure out what was and wasn't working vs New York... and (barring injury) sweep the next 4. It's not like we're dealing with a contender here... it's just the Knicks.
Get them Tommy Points heated up.
