LOL @this thread. Rondo is sorely missed. 8 turnovers in a quarter?
Nah.  Our offense is just rusty.  We'll get the turnovers down in the next game.  Not worried at all.  The Knicks could have blown us out in Game 1 and that didn't happen.  Last year we lost game 1 vs Atlanta by 9 points.   We lost our first 2 vs Miami and then won the next 3.

Hi guys... let me introduce you to the Boston Celtics.  You must be new.   This ball club adjusts come playoff time.

Lol the Knicks didn't even play well and they held the C's to 78. This is not the same C's as the years before. No Rondo (or Ray). Don't compare this team to last years.

One last note:  Boston tends to excel when they can focus on one team and then build a strategy against them.  We're an intelligent veteran team that knows how to adapt to our opponent.  I wouldn't be surprised to see us lose this first game... and then win the next 4.  That's just the way we are.

Yup... we lost the first game.  That was expected.  We have a history of losing the first game and adjusting.  Let everyone have their hissy fit panic attacks... it's like they haven't followed the Celtics before.

Right on cue... Pierce with 39 minutes and KG with 37.  We held the Knicks to 85 points.  Our bench contributed a total of 0 field goals and we had 20 turnovers.  We only lost by 7.  Not bad.  Chaulk it up to rust... the Celtics haven't played real basketball for over a month.

Not worried.  We'll sweep the next 4.

i'll bet you 25 tommy points they do not. deal?
Sure.  I'll take that bet on the condition that KG and Pierce both play the next 4 without serious injuries and average their typical 37 and 39 minutes.  Boston will sweep the next 4 games.

We held ourselves to 78.  It's fine.  The boys are just getting back into the swing of things and shaking off the cobwebs after taking their month-long vacation.  KG isn't shooting 4-12 next game and Jason Terry isn't going 0-5.

The next game, we will not have 20 turnovers... and our bench will absolutely score at least one field goal.   It's just the Knicks we're talking about here... it's not like we're playing a contender.

Whatever any of you who think we are winning this series are taking, can I have some? We are done. Like Aunt Mabel's roast.

Check previous playoffs... KG has his minutes increased from 30 to 37... Pierce has his minutes increased from 34 to 39.  It's our playoff rotation.  Tonight, right on cue, Pierce with 39 and KG with 37.

I liked what I saw from them.  Their shooting was off, but otherwise they gave solid effort.  Green gave us what we wanted.  Bradley had a solid game.   I thought Bass was effective guarding Melo.  We limited JR Smith.  Then turnovers were a concern, but there's no way we turn it over 20 times the next game.  THere's also no way our bench goes scoreless the next game.  They took 14 more fieldgoal attempts than we did... we can't let that happen again.

I wouldn't diss Doc.  Boston has a great track record of adjusting during playoff series and finding ways to win.  They are a savvy veteran team and one of the best at pinpointing weaknesses and exploiting matchups.  They'll review footage, figure out what was and wasn't working vs New York... and (barring injury) sweep the next 4.  It's not like we're dealing with a contender here... it's just the Knicks.

Get them Tommy Points heated up.

Hi guys.. It's just the Knicks we're talking about here... it's not like we're playing a contender.

There was a thread a couple weeks back where people bristled at the idea that Celtics fans are entitled and take the Knicks for granted just because they're the Knicks.

For reference, the above quote is an example of precisely that.

This is like fans of the 2011 Lakers being like "don't worry guys, it's not like we're playing a contender.  It's just the Mavs."

The Knicks aren't a great team.  They have one fantastic player (who is due for a slump) and a streaky shooter (JR Smith).  That team would be the 6th seed in the West.  Boston is built for the playoffs.  We're just clearing our throat right now.  When we win game 2, we take home court advantage and the series.

Also... that example is silly.  The Mavs won a title recently.  The Knicks haven't been out of the first round in 13 years.

The Mavs hadn't won a title recently at that point.  In fact, they'd been bounced from the playoffs relatively early the previous 2-3 seasons.

The Mavs also had one superstar player and then a bunch of role players who hadn't done much in the playoffs recently.

That Mavs team was good in the regular season but was never the among the very best teams in the league.

I think this Knicks team has the capability to go on a run similar to that Mavs team if Melo goes on a crazy run sort of like Dirk did.

I can't see Boston winning four straight against New York.

I am expecting a very close and long series.

Only way this is a short series is if it's us at the losing end
