  From what I can see you aren't even familiar with the FACTS concerning our last 5 games. You're claiming that our 5 game losing streak proves KG is our leader. But KG played in 2 of those games. Either you're unaware of this point or you're somehow claiming that the team losing whether KG plays or not somehow proves that he's the leader of the team.

Rondo has been the leader of this team for two years and will be the leader going forward.  KG himself said so.

However, KG is the MOST important player on the team.  No questioning that.  Simple as that.

In 2009, losing KG hurt the team... but the fact we had 2009 Paul Pierce, 2009 Ray Allen and 2009 Rajon Rondo on the team definitely contributed to our "success" without him.   And let's be clear about what that "success" was... we struggled to knock off a mediocre baby Bulls team (who we proved capable of DESTROYING the next year when KG returned) and then lost to Dwight Howard in the next round. 

Fact was, in 2009 we absolutely were the favorites to repeat as champions.  Do you remember how we started that season?  We won 19 in a row at one point.  WE STARTED THE SEASON 27-2 ... KG goes down and we're BARELY as good as a 41 WIN BULLS TEAM ...

Enough of this revisionist history.  We went from being potentially one of the best teams of all time... to an also-ran who needed 7 games + 7 overtimes + miracle performances by Ray Allen... to knock off a 41 win Bulls team.

KG has always been the MVP of this team.  Unfortunately right now we don't have 2009 Ray Allen, 2009 Paul Pierce and 2009 Rondo to pick up the slack and keep us strong enough to beat a 41 team.   

I know you're the world's biggest Rondo fan and you're going to argue this with an equally long rant... but it's silly.  KG is far more important to the success of this team.

I understand the temptation, but can try to not make generalizations based on a few games.  We did blow out a couple of teams and almost beat Miami with their MVP... Scott Foster without KG. 

Maybe Courtney Lee is the true leader all along because we haven't won without him?  Or maybe we go through stretches regardless of who is on the floor, and losing 5 of our rotation players along with our two best players means we will lose a few games. 

We are going to be who we are going to be in the playoffs.  Seeding or not we have to take it one game at a time in the playoffs and hope we can win 16 games before we run out of gas.  So let's enjoy the rest and the better draft pick and hope we can grab another Rondo/Bradley/Sullinger/Al Jefferson...

This.  It could be Pierce and KG, or Rondo and Pierce, and the result would be the same.  If you're missing two of your three best players, you're going to suck more often than not.

I'd say in terms of "talent", Pierce is unmatched on this squad.  Guy can do it all.  But big men win you titles in this league and defense is gold.  KG is the epicenter of our defense and his impact is unparalleled on Boston. 

Rondo has skill.  He's also flawed.  He's not the most talented player, the best player, or the most important player on the Celtics.  He's really good, though.

  Funny, after all your crowing about how the team wins during the regular season when Rondo's out you ignore that and concentrate on playoff results when talking about your binky. Let me know when we do better than losing in game 7 to the EC champ without Rondo.

  We also don't have Perk to protect the rim. Like I said, KG's indispensability is largely based on the dearth of quality bigs on our roster, not just his play.

I think you're selling Rondo short there.

I agree that Pierce is still a great all-around player (and it's incredible that he can still do it at his age), but Rondo's really improved as a player, too.  Teams used to dare him to shoot, and this year he finally started to make them pay for it.  If he can stretch that range to the three-point line, driving the lane (his favorite move, especially for kicking it out for open shots) just became so much easier.

Definitely agree on KG's importance.  I was talking to my buddy about a week ago, and he and I were arguing about whether Chris Paul or KG was a bigger "culture-changer."  His argument was based around the fact that the Clippers were always the laughing stock of the league, and now they're making their second straight playoff appearance, on their way to a fifty-win season, and have one of the top teams for the future, and it's all really because of Paul.

Obviously, I disagreed.  I argued that pre-KG, Boston was coming off an abysmal season, highlighted by a 24-game losing streak, and once the Ticket arrived, he turned a 24-win team in a 66-win team that won a title.  In one freaking year.  Obviously, we had more talent than LA has now, but it cannot be forgotten how KG made guys care about defense, and more importantly, each other.

Man, KG is really special.  Love the guy.
