Ninkovich just signed a 3 year $15M extension ($8.5M guaranteed). This is great news for the Pats.

so i made the sneaky move of drafting and stashing josh gordon. And with the news that cleveland is shopping him, i was wondering if the Pats could buy low. But it looks like today's gordon performance is great for my fantasy tema but probably means that there swill be no buy low option for the pats.

i did the same and he paid dividends, however, he's a strike away from a decent suspension.  do we really need that?

scroll down on this link and compare brady this year to last so far.  you'll be surprised at how close his stats are without the great welker on the team.

10% drop in completion percentage and dropping from 7.5 YPA to 5.5 YPA is close?

Brady's performance so far has been far from his best. He's played closer to average than an MVP caliber QB. He had a 98 rating last year overall and so far has a 79.

Now his receivers are obviously a mess, but Tom's missed far more throws than usual.

A 10% drop in completion % is pretty drastic.  His QB rating is a lot lower too. Plus, the passing yardage is at almost a 200 yd drop. He's played worst than last year but I think much of it is due to the offensive unit's growing pains.  You never want a QB completing less than 60%.

However, as a team, they're not much different than last year.  Biggest difference they are 3-0 now where they were 1-2 a year ago at this time. But in terms of teamplay, I think the unsteadiness has been about the same.  Pats have always been a better Nov/Dec regular season team.  The team you see in Sept is almost never like the team in the 2nd half of the season.   Denver seems to be the class of the AFC right now but I think the Pats are still in that second tier right now.

One of the better games you're going to see from a corner.  Heck of a performance from Talib.  Gave the Falcons absolutely nothing.

Good to see Thompkins with a great game tonight too.

Yup. Talib just punched his contract meal ticket. Wow.
Hope Wilfork, Dennard, Dobson are all okay.

I said it a couple of games ago, I will say it now, this team goes as far as the defense will take them and they are much improved over last year. Last night they slipped out of their normal cover two and showed some interesting blanket and umbrella packages dedicated to taking away a specific target, something they hadn't done this year. The LB coverage on the backs out of the backfield is getting better. There was not a lot of YAC which killed this young defense last year. Their run defense, 3rd down defense, and red zone defense was very good to great, as it has been all year.

As Dennard, Gregory, Hightower, Collins, Jones and a couple of the other younger guys on the line start to develop and learn the entire system better, by Nov. and Dec. this is going to be one of the better defenses in the league, and could be for years to come, given their age.

The the talk will be about Brady, Gronk, Amendola, Edelman and the receiving core but it will be the offensive line, depth at RB and the defense that wins a whole bunch of games for the pats this year, especially come playoff time.

Wilfork tore his Achillies tendon. He's done for the season.

Seems like the Pats season, as far as actually contending for a Super Bowl, is over before it began.

Brady has unreliable targets at wide receiver; the rookies are inconsistent, while Edelman and Amendola are small and injury prone.  The elite, matchup-nightmare TEs that were the motor for the prolific offense over the past years are gone or still rehabbing from injury.  The once-promising running game has been dismantled by injuries, and the best runners are fumble-prone in any case.

The defense looks the best it has in years, but it doesn't matter because the offense is in shambles.

Bottom line, the Patriots look like a mediocre team right now, and while I expect that to improve somewhat, I don't think the fundamental issues are going to be solved this year.  What you see is what you get.  Another year, another team not good enough to help Brady get over the championship drought.

Oh yeah, and Brady hasn't exactly been great this season, either.  He's been pretty good, but far from elite.  The receiver and TE situation hasn't helped him out, but other quarterbacks have made more out of less on other teams. A team with an elite quarterback should never have such an anemic offense, regardless of who is playing at receiver and TE.

honestly I think people were getting a little caught up in the 4-0 record.  But the defense has been very good and the pats have 3 game changing players coming back from injury soon hopefully.

Biggest issue I have had so far is the way BB has turned his back on the run when somebody puts it on the ground.  Ridley can still be a top 15 back in the league and the pats ran the ball 11 times for 53 yards before Blount pt it on the ground yesterday.  Then they went almost exlusively to bolden who sucks.
