Kobe....I have Mr. Perkins on the phone...he want's to know how it feels.

Agreed.

I'm a bit shocked to see Kobe making as big a deal about it as he is.

Hey Kobe - it's an "injury", lol....

BOS's dealt with them since 08-09...probably cost us at LEAST 1 Banner, maybe 2....

Other teams deal with them, too.

Love ya, Kobe, but you're not invincible to injuries. They happen.

Man up, get well, and get your team to the playoffs. BOS will meet you there, hopefully - without Rondo, Barbosa, and Sully, who are - injured.

lol "get your team to the playoffs"-- from the bench! ;D ;D

I guess he would come off as strange if he said, "oh well, I'm out for the season; woe is me." He's gotta say something and that's probably not, "I admit it. That was a very well-called foul and I deserved it for not watching where my feet landed."

Haha - I see your point, as before in the thread, but I just don't believe the player guarding him meant to do it.

It's an injury, Kobe. As much as you "may" believe that you're Tony Stark - you're not.

Talk to Perk, KG, Rondo, Sully, Barbosa, etc, etc - about them.

He can even talk to Shaq and JO, too - either one of those Bigs stay healthy in 10-11 (and Wade keeps his hands to himself, lol) no matter telling what BOS could've done in 10-11, too.

End rant.

 ;D

"I just don't believe the player guarding him meant to do it" -- debatable

Oh - and Kobe - tell World Peace to not take Ray Ray's legs from him in the 09-10 finals, too.

Yes - still a bit of bitterness from me about those finals.

I'll be ok.

Isn't it already illegal to run under a guy on a jumpshot?  It's not always called of course but I'm pretty sure the shooting motion isn't considered over until the shooter lands on the ground.

I agree that Kobe's got a case, but that's partly because I think Dahntay is the kind of player to try something like that.  Dahntay is also right that Kobe kicked his leg out on the shot, though.
Yeah it is, and Kobe does have a case. But he's not a player who should be throwing stones on this sort of thing.

He's right, but he makes the same mistakes as any other player. Some things just aren't called (see Garnett, Kevin pushing players around every game from behind-the-back)
Yeah. Tons of players throw elbows. Most good big men especially.

But putting a foot under a guy is completely different. It is a premeditated attempt to hurt someone. Bowen was so dirty this way. Completely different mindset between the two.

Of course, people who want to hate on Kobe will complain about his valid complaint. Probably because they can't fall back on their typical nonsense about Kobe getting every call.

Ultimately, it is too hard to police this kind of foul. There is too much to watch. Refs need to pay such close attention to the arms, that legs will be missed.

Similarly, way to many shooters get away with using their legs to hold off defenders when shooting. That play annoys me.

It's a dirty play, point blank.

I'm not sure I want officials paying any extra attention to this, at the expense of potentially missing other fouls.  Probably too difficult to accurately judge (in most instances) how intentional is was or not.

I would be fine, however, if the league office decided it wanted to crack down on this type of stuff, and issue fines and/or suspensions.

Ok, CC - good point.

I'll do you one better, though. Let me first preface this by stating that I firmly believe that Kobe Bryant is one of the GOATs...no question.

Even though I can't stand LA or him, I highly respect his talent, drive and winning ways.

He is, indeed - the closest thing to Jordan, IMO.

Throwing elbows at defenders heads as they close out on your jump shot is in the same category for me. Attempting to hurt a guy with a blow to the head. (and mission was accomplished in Kobe's case and got him suspended)

Best moment: The end when Kobe was rocked with a two-piece and swung at air after it!!! Nice!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Haha...I thought his "foul" on Andre Iguodala was the best one....hit him so hard in the jewels it knocked him back.

C'mon, Kobe! ;D

I love his competitiveness, but he needs to let this one go.

  • Everyone's excited for the new era.
Teams should be wary if they are interested in signing Dahntay Jones this summer.

Was it a foul?  In my opinion, yeah.  Was is a cheap shot?  Absolutely.

Here's what it comes down to, though: injuries happen, Kobe.  Take this year's Laker team, for example.  Nash goes down, Pau goes down, Dwight has been banged up for most of the year, yet there were no real excuses.  Kobe kept telling us, "we're gonna make the playoffs."  Now he goes down, and suddenly it's like the world has ended?  C'mon, Kobe.

TP. First thing that came to my mind was Kobe/Bynum injuring Perk in The Finals. Non intentional, right?

Then Rubio's ACL injury caused (non intentionally of course) by Kobe.

Kobe can go to WWE with Karate Hamster and Metta World War. Not wishing any injury to any player, but he's disgusting.

Tell me one good player who isn't dirty. You really can't (OK Durant maybe...) It's simply a facet of the sport. ??? I'd say he's nowhere near the "dirtiest player in the NBA" though.

I'm sorry, man....you won't find a clip with Russell, Michael, Magic, Larry..doing this stuff.

It's wrong, childish, smallish, lol - for Kobe to make  big deal about this.

Even Charles Barkley is saying it - on NBATV right now. How else do you expect someone to guard Kobe Bryant?

He sounds like a man who is perhaps seeing his "promise" slip away - to get his team to the playoffs.

I don't recall ANY Celtic that has ranted to the media about our injuries over the years...and if they did, they'd have enough material for a mini-series.

  • You say when......
Hard to forget when kobe put his foot under perkins in the playoffs...it was so bad the NBA took the review away so we couldn't see how obvious it was that he did it on purpose...i saw it...so now he has to deal with it....
