Buy kill I mean either a top ten pick in the draft, or two firsts plus a player. In essence make a power move for a top five point guard. It only takes one team to be enamored with Rondo to make it happen.

About how many teams would make a serious push for Rondo if he became available.

 The answer is seven teams.

I don't know if a top ten pick is evidence that a team would "kill" for him.

I mean, Kyle Lowry returned a probable top-ten pick.  Rondo's value would seemingly be at least that high.

Probably higher.  I think Rondo is good enough that you could stick him on a basement dweller and they automatically become a playoff team.  Though the Celtics recent success is really going to make GMs question that.

 The answer is seven teams.

Hopefully Danny's smart enough not to unload Rondo to any of those teams, players that perform like Rondo in the playoffs are few and far between.

Yes, Rondo is transcendent in the playoffs.  But how well are the C's next generation going to be playing there with him?  If Rondo's role through the regular season is similar to what it was this year, I'd argue that the likes of JET, Lee, Green, Bradley and Crawford won't be at their best come the playoffs--and it is still a team game.

Jet played as well in November as he has since Rondo's been out, his poor play in Jan was due to his playing through a knee injury. Green's numbers improved significantly while Rondo was playing, his improvement is more due to Sully being out and him getting more minutes than his struggling with Rondo. Bradley's best play as a pro came alongside Rondo. Lee was hot for a while after Rondo went out but he's only hit double figures once in the last 7 games and his numbers in that stretch are probably worse than they were with Rondo. Crawford's never played with Rondo.

Teams that would want Rondo or possibly trade for him:

New York...he would be a star of epic proportions in NY

Atlanta...Teague is good, Rondo in Atlanta means Smith might stay

Miami...if you really think Pat Riley or LeBron or Wade wouldn't kill to have Rondo on their team, you're crazy

Charlotte...he would be their best player by a mile

Orlando...they know what has happened to Nelson's game. They have no delusions. They would welcome Rondo.

Utah...you don't really think they are happy with Mo Williams do you?

New Orleans...Grevais is having a good year. He's no Rondo.

Houston...for what Lin makes and what Rondo would cost, Morey would love to put Rondo next to Harden.

Dallas...if they have been saving for a couple of years to go after CP3, of course they would want Rondo if CP3 isn't available.

Sacramento...no brainer

Phoenix...they probably wish they never sold him to Boston in the first place.

I have it at 11 teams that would want or trade for Rondo. How many would give up a substantial package for him, no clue.

TP Nick You the man, just the type of post I was looking for, I'd drop Miami from the mix because that's just not right, and not enough balls to go around. And maybe drop ATL cause I really like Teauge. Other than that that list looks good.

Left out the Lakers.

But it's a good list. Plenty of opportunities to get value for Rondo and move ahead with the rebuild.

I think the Lakers are just fine with Nash playing the quasi SG and just shooting alongside Kobe. Its what their PGs have done for 15 years in LA. I don't see them changing now, of course, maybe they would want to build around Rondo and Howard and say bye to Kobe, though I doubt that.

A more likely scenario would involve Kobe's affection for Rondo, and saying goodbye to Nash, I suspect.

I doubt the Lakers would find a lot of takers for that contract.
