And they would be wrong. McDermott is a clear first rounder.

Would have been hilarious to read this board back in the late 70s to see what the "experts" were saying about Larry Bird. McDermott isn't Bird. Yet. But he's a lot better than some of the silliness being posted about him on this board.

There must be a reason people deem him a second-rounder.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Surely we get at least one lottery pick for Rondo? Probably more picks or a solid young big. Ie cousins + lottery pick...
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I'd rather have a proven player than picks I remember Michael Smith.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Mcadoo if teams are dumb enough to leave him hanging around past the lottery.

Robinson III if he's available which I highly doubt his type (Athletic slashers who can shoot :Paul Geroge, Terrence Ross) always shoot up the boards with workouts.

If we're going big the guy draft express has us taking from overseas doesn't look too bad.

Not a strong draft - although I'd be happy to use our first on McDermott. The people on this board who can't see what he's going to be in the league are, in a word, wrong.

What a riveting explanation of how those posters are "wrong."

Well, concise at least....
Celtics fan for life.

He's from Canada, but I like him too. He reminds me of Sullinger in that he's not the most athletic but he knows how to play in the post.

I hope we draft a center, that or someone projected much higher falls to us.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Would hate to give up our veteran hall of famers for three back of the round picks in a weak draft. That sounds terrible to me.

In what year was there ever a strong draft?? When you have top 5 picks and then the rest , that's not considered a strong draft, because the rest is like a crapshoot.  Usually these years top 10-12 picks have been good, and the rest again nobody knows. Thats where the scouting and which players fit with your system come in

I consider this a decent draft and there are gems in the 20's. Especially when guys like Tim Hardaway jr. and Jeff Withey are projected to be picked in the 20's by many mock boards

mcdermott is projected to be a mid 2nd rounder... wasting a 1st rounder on someone who has a 99% chance of not making it in the nba would be hilarious.

James McAdoo, Trey Burke, Archie Goodwin, Lebryan Nash, Tim Hardaway Jr are all projected to still be on the board when we pick our 1st pick.

last year was super deep. We got sullinger, who at 1 point was projected to be the 1st overall pick in the previous draft (2011) but since 2012 was so deep he fell (the medical report dropped him as well)

the medical report was huge. If not for that, he'd be top5 pick

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Im not goung to invest a ton if picks in this draft which is a weak one. Also, Rondo for a first rounder us an absolute heist for any team.

In any case,  Doug McDermott is the guy I want to be drafted. He aint going to start over Green, but he will give us a tin if scoring and stability iff the bench. I've seen enough if him to say a first round gamble would be worth it.

Abd im taking Steven Adams over Whitey just for pitential.

bc people think if you don't have 7 ft wingspan and can move as fast as dwade, you are toast in the nba.

Sully is a perfect example to never underestimate IQ and hard work.

I'm not stating Mcdermott will be a bonadife nba superstar. But he will be a good nba player. If you consider Kyle Kover as a pretty darn good nba player, than Mcdermott will be just as good at worse if not better.
