First of all Jeff Green was not the number 2 draft. Second he is already a proven NBA starter on a good OKC team. Can he back up PP - I think he can handle it. Can he be Paul Pierce maybe, maybe not, but that may be an unrealistic expectation for him this season.

By the way Darko is a Solid Center in this league (without many true centers).

Yep, we are the best fans in the world. So a guy comes back after missing a year from heart surgery, against the defending champs on the road, matched up agains one of the best players of all-time in his prime, and looks rusty, so what do we do? We compare him to Tskitishvili and Darko and all the other major dissapointments that we can think of. Great.

It's natural.  We spent $14 mil combined on Terry and Green to put us over the top.  Miami spent $3 mil on Allen and pulled Rashard Lewis from the scrap heap.  Our guys combined for something like 7 points on 2-11 shooting, while their guys scored like 29 on sparkling efficiency.

That kind of immediate disparity is going to provoke some irritation with the fan, especially towards the guy whose agent bilked us for $9 mil per coming off heart surgery and a weak 2011 postseason.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

For me Green and Terry have to be traded.

I'm not uncomfortable AT ALL about either Darko Milicic or Jeff Green - especially after last night vs MIA.

One game doesn't make a season.

Both of these players will come up BIG for BOS eventually - just watch.

Heres the big problem, other than people already crying the sky is falling...One freaking game people....

Any ways. The first game of the year, against who they say is the best team in Basketball, when they get their rings. Green,Terry and Lee have a ton to prov and were a bit itchy to prov it all at once.

KG looked bad to, no one calling him out on it.

Rondo and PP were the only guys that really showed up for the game. Barbosa showed up in the 4th. Which if we get that guy on a regular bases, we're good to go.

The team didn't play in over a week. Next game isn't until Friday. Lest give them till at least the end of next week before the sky falls.

If Green looks good next game he'll be considered a steal for Perk and a candidate for 6th man and Comeback player.

Let's assess Jeff Green after 20 games.

But not with Doc Rivers and BOS.

Not playing his natural SF position, like he'll do the majority of the time in Green.

Plus, the game last night had BAD written ALL over it...road game in MIA..ring ceremony..bunch of new players for BOS...DWade the healthiest he's been in while...plus no Avery Bradley for us.

Not a very good time to try to beat the defending champs.

For me, it's just TOO early to judge Jeff Green. His story is still being written.

I know it's only one game, and is JGreen's first game since 2011....and it was against the Champs on - kind of a big stage kind of night.

But I can't shake the uncomfortable feeling that JGreen and Darko share the same passion for the game.....which is close to zero.

JGreen looked beyond lost and afraid.  The Heat could smell his fear.  His showing was kind of pathetic.

PS.   And as for Doc - if there is a line up made for JGreen being on the floor as a starter, the Heat's small line up is it!!!

Having said that,  I've always been a JGreen fan and glad we signed him.  Just very disappointed with what looked to me as fear and lack of assertiveness.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Lol first game back in the NBA for a guy who less than a year ago was wondering if he would love, let alone dribble a basketball again. Give him a break lol his nerves would've been through the roof to play his first NBA game and against the heat. Darko? Cmon that's almost pathetic.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Let's see how father time treats Rashard, Benedict Allen and even Punk Wade... by march they could all be in worse shape than they are now.

The Heat were really trying to win yesterday, and our young team is not there yet. But Terry, Green and Sullinger are going to be great for this team.

Go Celtics!

Not sure I understand your point.  Are you suggesting he's already proven himself to be a bust?  From  22-24 years old he averaged over 15 PPG.  I think the jury is out regarding whether he'll grow into a borderline all-star or he'll remain (get back to since the surgery) an above average 3/4.

As far as this year goes, 1 game isn't enough for me. I'll say 20 games would be a decent sample.

Green will be fine. He looked a bit overwhelmed by the moment, and that is understandable. He was thrown into a circus after a long time off.

It was one game. Not a huge deal. Look how long it took Bradley to find his confidence. Once Green gets comfortable, he will start tearing up defenses.
