with the signing of Barbosa a talented c's backcourt just got even better and more explosive . When Bradley comes back there will be 4 guys trying to split 58 mins a game(rondo will play at least 38)

That leaves a log jam . I know Bradley is a great defender, but we have Lee locked up long term at a cheap price who is a very capable starting SG in the league and fits well running next to Rondo. He isn't the shut down defender Bradley is, but is very capable of playing good man and team defense.

To me Bradley and Bass are the most expendable players now and while I would hate to lose Bradley's D if we could get an impact pf back like Josh Smith you have to do it

Bradley, Bass , Melo ,filler and 2 1sts for Josh Smith ?

I know, I know...not another Josh Smith thread, but I think this signing really paves the way for Bradley to become a trade chip for an upgrade at PF. Bass may have to be traded to a 3rd team who would send an expiring contract to Atl

PG: Rondo    / Terry
SG: Lee      / Barbosa
SF: PP       / Green
PF: Smith    / Sully
 C: KG       / Darko

Scary team if Danny can pull off a trade like this to improve our rebounding and low post defense

Courtney Lee is the player who threatens Bradley's future.

I don't think the addition of Barbosa changes anything. Neither Terry or Barbosa is a strong enough defender/rebounder (or even serviceable) to be a starting shooting guard.

depends, if Bradley was healthy I think we would keep him. He comes cheaper, younger and still improving. Lee could be used as a trade chip

and I honestly think Bradley's defense is better than Lee's

There are only so many players who can shut down the Wades and the Westbrooks in this league. Bradley is a rare commodity. I would take the Barbosa signing as possible depth for Terry as the scoring punch.

People seriously need to stop talking about Smith, not because he's an interesting possibility but because there have been no recent rumors about the Hawks and the Celtics talking about a deal.

All we know is that Smith would like to come here and has close ties with some of our own.

Hey guess what? SO DID CHAD OCHOCINCO!

I don't think anything is set in stone.  I think Danny is simply trying to acquire assets.  That's how he landed KG and Ray 5 years ago: he had lots of young valuable assets to trade away.

I think he's doing that here and building the depth to make such trades.  However, I wouldn't say that Bradley is done here.  One, the appropriate trade has to be out there.  And secondly, I think it's quite possible that Lee could be the one part of a larger deal down the road.

of course Bradley's D is better than Lee's , but if you can get an all-star level talent and still have someone like Lee capable of starting then Bradley's D won't be missed as much. Smith is almost at Bradley's level of defense , but he is a big man who also can rebound and protect the rim.

Barbosa is past his prime he will help till bradley comes back...he is not even a true one....though he can help though...but when bradley comes back he is going to be waiving a towel and playing trash time minutes..

OP, Bass,Bradley and Melo is short of money to get Smith, Lee has to be added but then it's overpaying. Take out either Melo or Bradley then it's a deal.

And again, we are NOT trading Lee after we convinced him to sign with us for less money.

We can add Jason Collins or Wilcox, it says that it works on the realgm trade checker, not sure how much money we have to send out but Bass,Bradley,Wilcox and Melo would be around 9 mil. You don't have to match the salaries, but not sure how much we have to send out to get 13 mil back. Anyone know for sure?

According to realgm's trade checker a Bass, Bradley, and Melo deal works just fine.

rondohondo and Manup.

We have a hard cap of 74.3 million we can't exceed that IIRC. Then we can't use our 5 million MLE, we signed Terry.

backcourt depth chart to me:
rondo
terry
bradley
lee
barbosa

Bradley is the youngest with the most upside except maybe for rondo (yes he really could be that great).  I can see barbosa being traded near deadline maybe but that is it.
