Question: is Jimmer Fredette more, or less, qualified to play PG in the NBA than Avery Bradley?
Less.

Fredette has yet to show he can be an impact player in any phase of the game. Now his situation in Sacramento hasn't been ideal for development but we haven't seen it yet.

Bradley has shown he can be a defensive difference maker at both the PG/SG positions.

This^
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

Well, there are two major problems I have here.  First, Boston doesn't need a backup PG.  They have one of hte best in the league in Jason Terry.

But if you argument is that Jason Terry isn't really a PG...well, fine, then Jimmer Fredette isn't one either.

I am more open than most to trading Bradley, because I think he might be closer to his ceiling than others, and that his value will drop as other GMs realize this.  But not for a guy like Fredette who is really a questionable NBA player at this point.

Trade works on RealGM.

I'm asking for objectivity here.  With Boston in need of a backup point guard and Fredette, who seems to be the odd man out in Sacremento, possibly available.  I wonder if Ainge explores this option after Bradley is healthy.  Especially, with Lee and Terry signed for multiple years.

Besides, a decision will need to be made on Bradley sooner than later.  Do you want to invest long-term in an injury prone undersized shooting guard.  If so, why not Fredette? His contract has more years so the decision on him can wait.

I like the idea of Fredette being an Eddie House off the bench.

Ahem.... did you watch NBA basketball at all last year??

Don't trade the starting SG of a playoff team for the third string PG on a lotto team.

He played about the same level as E'Twaun Moore did last season. He has a lot to prove.

Yeah, and that's about what I would have offered in trade.

No thanks.

I really like Jimmer, but 21 y.o defensive-minded G's who are getting better offensively, who get kudos from superstars like LeBron and DWade, who are getting NBA Defensive Team votes after only 20 games, etc - don't grow on trees.

Bradley's at least a rotation player with elite defensive skills while Fredette looks like a bust.

BTW, I don't have to show any stinkin' objectivity!

Lee will be the starting shooting guard.  Hence, Bradley is expendable.  I don't see how Lee's a drop-off at the position.  The shooting guard postilion on Boston is interchangeable.  They will still be a playoff team without him [Bradley] in the starting lineup.

The overwhelming bias against Fredette by posters on here is disappointing.  I thought that I would read insightful, intelligent and objective opinions.  I guess not.  Very few, if any, thought out replies.  Too many jerks on here.  Shame.

If you dislike the thread, then don't acknowledge it.  But that's too much in doing right.

But even when looking at the situation objectively, there is no evidence of Fredette being a better point guard than Avery Bradley. Although Bradley is currently offensively very unrefined, the net effect that he has on the game is often positive purely because of his defense. Until Fredette shows that he can do the one thing that is supposedly his strength (scoring) at the NBA level, I see absolutely no reason to do this trade.
