Steve Aschburner ‏@AschNBA

Had an NBA head coach today who refused to believe me at first when I told him about Darko/Celtics.

Is this good or bad?

I'm thinking bad, but who knows. I just hope it turns out good for us but he will be getting a ring this season whether he warms the bench or not! 12-13 IS THE SEASON OF THE CELTICS!!!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I think Darko as a vet minimum backup is an excellent pickup. He's not a starter, but as a backup he's pretty [dang] solid. He's a big body that can body up will clog things in the paint and collect fouls. I'm a lot more comfortable with the idea of him as a backup than I was with Jason Collins.

DA put in work this offseason.

Thank You Based God

Miami lack of size will work to our advantage as long as Doc commits to twin tower look. The minutes he tries to match-up their small ball, it will be over for the Celtics. You can't out-finesse Miami small ball. We need a disciplined Doc. Beat them up with Size. Force their hand.

Don't see what the big deal is with people hating on him. He's another guy that hasn't lived up to potential and we'll get on the cheap. He is a proven low post defender and we are going to need his size in the playoffs against Andrew Bynum. He'll get easy buckets with Rondo throwing him the ball. If Rondo can keep Ryan Hollins looking good at times he can make Darko a great role player around the rim on offense.
Our locker room with KG barking at him, Doc's guidance and Rondo's ability to get him the ball will be the best possible situation for him.
If this is true I'm wondering why we didn't go after Andre Blatche. Similar circumstances where we could make much more of his potential than those who have tried before us.

Does Darko have the lockerroom issues that Blatche has?  I thinkk the off court/on court lazyness were the reasons we didnt go after blatche.

That and somebody pooped in his shoes

True story.

And it was Gilbert Arenas, not surprisingly.

He might be the only NBA player to have had a teammate poop in his shoes.

I don't think Doc has enough quality size to beat Miami in a power game.

As a result, I don't think Doc has any choice but to matchup against them (small-ball).

Not sure what this means longterm. Collins and Darko seem redundant. I assume either can be traded at some point; but unless Wilcox is having trouble making a full comeback don't see the logic.

One thing I have learned from the past 5 seasons is that you can never, ever, have too many big men. Things will work out. Collins is here to guard Bynum and Howard, that's it. Wilcox can play PF and can run the floor well, Darko gives us a healthier later career version of JO. They all have limitations, but each one brings something different that we need.

Everyone has been saying that Bass is a lock for starting at PF with KG at Center. I think this move makes it clear that Danny will not start KG at Center and will try to use him there sparingly over the regular season.

Starting lineup could well include Wilcox, Darko or Collins at Center with KG at PF.

I am making the same prediction for later in the season. I think Darko and Collins need a little more time  before it happens. Also I dont think Doc will want to start two new players (Lee) that dont know the system yet.

  • Ashy To Classy, baby.
Ladies and gentlemen, we just filled the Stiemsma role. Big goofy center that can block shots and be big and goofy.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.
