  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Seems like kind of an odd roster this year with all of the [mediocre] bigs. I actually kind of like the Darko signing, but I guess now Danny must regret the Collins signing (?) And then there is the whole Brandon Bass contract thing. Did we sign him so we could trade him. If Sullinger lives up to any of his hype and Green is healthy, there won't be much time for him (especially if KG is playing any pf). I will be very interested to see the rotations this year.

...and I thought there weren't enough minutes for the guards.

Talk about a loaded and incredibly versatile team. Brilliant move by Ainge & Co.

KG / Collins / Darko / Melo
Bass / Wilcox /Sully
Pierce / Green / Pietrus or other wing
Courtney Lee / Bradley / Christmas or Joseph
Rondo / Jet  /

I think we're going to now:

1. Either resign Pietrus or get one other wing behind Pierce and green with the Bi-annual.

2. Fill out the last spot with either Joseph or Christmas - send the other one the D-League.

This team isn't built needing a dominant center - we just need a couple big bodies to dish out hard fouls and clog the lane.

KG, Bass, Sully, Wilcox, Green, Pierce, Lee, Bradley, Jet and Rondo can score a little...  :)

Is the first game tomorrow?!

makes a bit more sense now that keyon is gone, but ainge needs to sign another swing to cover for paul and green. Must be waiting on pietrus to make up his mind. Wouldn't mind t williams he was good with the kings last year.

Rondo/Terry
Lee/Christmas/Bradley*
Pierce/Green/Joseph
KG/Bass/Sully
Wilcox/Darko/Collins/Fab

Awesome roster 9/10
The bestest thing is getting to see KG back at the 4 ;D
Rookies will still be serviceable for depth and limited minutes. They weren't playing under Doc anyway.
No more Green having to play out of position (unless Doc actually wants to go small)
3 Legit Big Bodies plus a running center in Wilcox.  RONDO WILL MAKE THESE GUYS LOOK LIKE STARS :)
So much versatility! Speed, Size, YOUTH.  Doc should have a field day.
We are probably the biggest team in the league right now, taller than the Lakers even. The rebounding should take care of itself.
Danny gets an A+ this offseason. Beast of a GM.
Offense sells tickets, Defense wins games, Rebounds win championships.

I think Darko is too damaged mentally at this point to fulfill his potential. He is what he is. I don't think anyone should be hoping for more than he has done in Minnesota or Memphis.

Darko is also 20+ lbs overweight and unable to play at his peak level. Unless he drops the extra weight, he won't even be able to get back to the level he was once able to play at back in his Orlando days where more activity as a team defender + rebounder than in Minnesota where he has declined year after year due to his poor conditioning.

It's a foregone conculsion that Darko will never come close to reaching his potential, but I'm with Rondo here, I don't see a big downside.

Darko is a very limited player, but he's a legitimate shot blocker who can rebound in restricted minutes. Just because he was a first round bust doesn't mean he can't be useful when used deliberately in certain situations.

If he pulls a Darko tantrum at any point you have Mello and Collins to phase him out.

Yeah I agree to that
Kwame Brown was a first round bust, and not as good as his draft pick, but he is very serviceable when he plays on a team. Good rebounder, shot blocker, post defense. And if Darko is a 3rd string center, whats the problem?

Doc always loves to go small. Thats really is MO for his whole Big 3 era. Ever since they played small in game 4 2008 Finals, Doc has been addicted to the small lineup

KG is still starting at the 5 and we're not the biggest team in the league at all.

And the deep get deeper...Anyone think Darko breaks out under the celtics organization and becomes our starting center and a borderline all star? Stranger things have happened.

Not only are we helladeep, but we are stockpiled for the trade deadline if we want to use some of our depth to add a bigger fish. Well done Danny...Well done.

Had an NBA head coach today who refused to believe me at first when I told him about Darko/Celtics.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Man, I really hope so.  I really hope so.  May be he'll finally prove himself

Is this good or bad?
