  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
In order most wanted.

1. LaMarcus Aldridge - The best big that no one is talking about. He'll give you an efficient  20/8 with good defense. He's in his prime and Portland looks like they are rebuilding. I think he might follow the trend and ask for a trade soon

2. Josh Smith - He's an athletic forward who plays great defense, rebounds, passes, and block shots. The problem he's not a good shooter, but he likes to shoot. I think Atlanta will be forced to trade him because he doesn't want to be there and he's a free agent after the season.

3. Nene - He's a big, fast, quick, and explosive center. I think he'd be great with Rondo and Garnett kind of like 2010-11 Shaq when he was healthy, but better. Washington has Okafor so they might let him go for the right price.

4. Al Jefferson - Utah seems to be dying to get rid of him and I think he'll come cheap. He doesn't play much defense and is injury prone, but he rebounds and boards up.

5. Anderson Varejao - The ultimate garbage man he plays tough defense, hustles, and rebounds all game long. Great flopper as well. Other than a pick or two. I don't think it would take much to get him.

I think Smith, Jefferson, and Varejao will all be available. I think someone's going to have to give Portland a call about Aldridge and get the rumors flowing. Get him thinking about his future, play on his ego a bit. Nene I have no idea, it depends on if Washington decides they want to win some games right now or still acquire pieces and continue building.

What do you think? Any additions?

I want Varejao. He does just what the C's need, and I'm sure he doesn't want to be on a rebuilding team, either.

I'm impressed that you've created a mid-season trade wish list when the season hasn't started yet lol

What do you think? Any additions?

1. In order to trade for Lamarcus Aldridge (who makes $14.0M per year), Boston would have to trade Pierce OR KG plus vet min. contract OR Rondo plus vet min. contract.  Which do you prefer?

2. In order to trade for Josh Smith (who makes $13.2M per year), Boston would have to trade Pierce OR KG plus vet min. contract  OR Rondo.  Which do you prefer?

3. In order to trade for Nene (who makes $13.0M per year), Boston would have to trade Pierce OR KG plus vet min. contract  OR Rondo.  Which do you prefer?

4. In order to trade for Al Jefferson (who makes $15.0M per year), Boston would have to trade Pierce OR KG plus 2 vet min. contracts OR Rondo plus 2 vet min. contracts.  Which do you prefer?

5. In order to trade for Anderson Verajao (who makes 8.4M per year).,the Celtics would have to get rid of 5 or 6 min. vet guys off of the bench (and somehow convince Cleveland it's worth it to them) to match contracts and get him. Or, possibly send Jeff Green (if he ever signs) straight up.

None of these guys are feasible unless they are bought out of their current contracts and are willing to sign for the min. to become a Celtic.

In January, all of the new contracts become tradeable.

Bass, Green, Terry, Lee, etc. are all decent-sized contracts that can be used besides P2/KG/RR.

Is there some new rule where you can't package multiple players in a trade that I don't know about?  KG/Pierce/Rondo don't have to be the centerpieces to these trades.  The C's have multiple assets they can put together mid-season to entice another team looking to go young/shed contracts. Green/Bass/Bradley/Lee/Terry are all very talented players on affordable deals and all but Terry are 27 years old or younger.

For instance the Celtics can build a pretty dynamic package centered around Green and Bradley.  Their youth and upside make them a very attractive tandem to teams on the rebuild.  Their combined salaries of 10.6 million puts us within an additional rookie/vet. min. contract of being able to acquire nearly all of the names listed in the OP I believe.

Lol, its the off-season have to kill the time some how. I'm looking at mid season because that's when teams feel the most pressure to get deals done and when our contracts become tradeable. This team is built to win now and looking at Mia and LAL we are lacking some fire power. If we can get a deal done for any of the guys in the top 3 I'd feel a lot better about our chances.

I think we should value Aldridge over Smith because he's a much better scorer and in the team scheme his defense will be just about the same. Imo, Aldridge is simply a better player.

I forgot about Gortat I'd probably put him fourth. Since they're rebuilding, Phoenix might be willing to let him go for something like a filler, prospect and/or pick. I don't think the Twolves are going to trade Pekovic.

Aldridge is a better player but his salary is higher so it would be a little harder to trade for him. Also, the Hawks are more likely to trade Smith than the Blazers are to trade Aldridge.

Aldridge is slighty a better player than Smith. Aldridge is a better scorer, but Smith is a better passer and ball-handler although those arent qualities needed for a bigman. I also think Smith is a better defender, rebounder, and will run with Rondo more. It is close though but i agree Aldridge is slightly better, because of his ability to score in the post. The reason he is second is because his contract is bigger so it is a little harder to trade for him. Also Josh Smith is more likely to be traded than Aldridge.

True true. I think out of those five you listed the two with the best chance of being available are Smith and Varaejo. Smith is gonna be a FA at the end of the season anyway, if we aren't in bad shape and the Hawks dont trade him I could see us getting him next year fairly easy. I've always liked Varaejo. If I were Danny, depending on the situation at the deadline I'd explore a trade. I could see Cleveland letting him go if he doesn't fit in their future plans

No way Washington trades Nene without getting a single comparable player back. They need to put guys around Wall.

I think Smith would be most likely to come to Boston of that group ...of his on accord...which is way you want to get players....at least somebody open minded...not KIDNAPP them like the Lakers.

no thanks on nene, he doesnt look right, he couldnt even give brazil some consistent scoring in the olympics, i love verajao though get boards all game long, i think he's likely a buyout candidate and we have the mini mid-level exception that we could use to sign him

LaMarcus Aldridge is who I would love to have without giving up anything significant. After him, I'd go for Josh Smith, again, by not giving up anything significant.
