The discussion in the CelticsTalk section about Jason Terry's chances of making the Hall of Fame got me thinking about which current NBA players would make the Hall if their careers ended today.

Shoo-ins:

Kobe Bryant
Tim Duncan
Kevin Garnett
Lebron James

On the Bubble:

Dirk Nowitzki
Paul Pierce
Jason Kidd
Steve Nash
Dwayne Wade
Chris Paul
Manu Ginobili
Tony Parker
Tracy McGrady
Ray Allen
Vince Carter
Dwight Howard

I'm looking for additions, corrections, or other thoughts on what current NBA players have Hall of Fame resumes or not quite good enough ones.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I think Dirk's European appeal makes him an automatic HOF'er. Not that I agree with it.

Dirk, Pierce, Kidd, Nash, Ray, and Wade are shoo ins.  Same likely with Howard.

Manu is probably a slam dunk because of the International part.

How is Dirk not an automatic Hall of Famer who needs his European appeal to get into the Hall on his first try?  The guy has won a MVP, a Finals MVP and been on 12 All-NBA teams, including 4 first teams.  He's an all-timer.

He's as much a shoo-in as Garnett is.  Come on.

Carter and McGrady- no way.  Chris Paul needs a few more healthy years.  Ginobili is a tough one- love him as a player but I'm not sure he is a HOF player.

Agreed.  I'd add Pau Gasol to the bubble, although I think he'll probably make it, too.

All of them are. But a few caveats.

Firstly, Dirk, Pierce, Wade, Nash, Parker and Allen, if they retire today, will likely be first ballot.

Ginobili, yeah, he's got the euro thing going for him.

Vince Carter will probably be a yearly debate after he retires. Eventually, perhaps 10-15 years from now, there will be a sentimental feeling towards him, that dunk contest will have more meaning as time passes as people will start looking at the 2000 dunk contest as some sort of revitalization of the NBA following the 1999 lockout.

A guy like McGrady, we only need to look at guys like Ralph Sampson, Adrian Dantley and others who had to wait 15-20 (or more) to get in. Just like you hear guys like Magic, or Jordan talk up players in the 80's and how good they were. You will hear guys like KG and Kobe talk about Tracy McGrady and how people might not remember "how good he really was".

A name I haven't seen mentioned - Grant Hill.  Sure he lost a lot of prime years to injuries, but he also has 2 college rings, a gold medal, and is very popular and well-respected both as a person and an ambassador of the game.

Plus despite the injuries he has 17000 points, 6000 reb, 4000 assists, 1200 steals, 500 blocks.  7 All-Star Games, 1 First Team All-NBA. 4 Second Teams.  Not shabby at all.  He might not make an NBA HOF, but he'll get in the Basketball HOF.

Yeah Grant Hill definitely doesn't make the NBA HoF, but he'll eventually get into the overall basketball HoF due to his college career.
