His actual quotes don't say anything near as harsh as the title implies, but he still thinks Indiana (and Brooklyn) are right behind Miami.

Non-story.  He didn't say anything about the Celts, other than that by default he sees us as no better than the third place regular season team.  We finished behind the Pacers last year, so I can't blame him for thinking we'd do the same thing again.

And yes, the title is needlessly inflammatory.

I particularly like the use of the quotation marks

Yeah, I personally don't believe he thinks that, so better to put it in quotes. Not my words, people!

No, I know.  I meant by the other blog.  You've got to attract eyeballs somehow, I guess.

I like the confidence and the gamesmanship by Granger.  I'm looking forward to there being some decent teams in the Eastern Conference this year.

There's a lot of hype about the Brooklyn Nets, but, to me, if they make the playoffs, it will be as a seven or eight seed.  I'm not too sold on the Williams/Johnson pairing, and I have the Sixers, the Hawks, the Pacers, the Knicks and even the Rose-less Bulls all being better than the Nets.  I'd like to see something out of the Wizards as well.  Wall and Nene with a bunch of role players ought to be a good enough combination to make a legitimate push for the playoffs.

SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

The Pacers are an interesting team but in no way championship ready no matter how deep they went into playoffs this year. Despite Granger, George, and Hibbert, I find them to be unreasonably lackluster. It may be the Celtics homer in me but they seem very similar to the Nuggets. Only difference is the aforementioned players. Whereas the Nuggets are struggling to define their stars, the Pacers have them set. Furthermore, what makes them a good team and a better team record wise is just their lack of huge injuries.

But I don't see the grit and grind mentality in that team that I see with the the Celtics. So in my opinion they still factor as only a second round playoff team with a bad attitude (see Granger/LeBron in post season). They don't have the ability to grind out a series no matter who you're oponnent is, how many players are injured, and how badly your rebounding is ala the Cs!

Unless George takes a huge leap and becomes a consistent scorer, I dont see the Pacers getting by the Celtics.

They stood pat and the Celtics markedly improved (on paper!).

Yeah but when you are a young team with virtually no one even having entered their prime, then you don't need to do much to get better.

BTW, they added Mahinmi to backup Hibbert and Green as a solid scoring wing off the bench (to replace barbosa).  Swapped out Collison and added Augustin as the backup PG (which is a slight upgrade imo).

Indiana should be better than they were last year, when they finished ahead of Boston.  They should finish ahead of Boston again.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Paul George really disappointed me in the playoffs.  I know he had to guard LeBron and Wade, but all he did was shoot threes.

When you're athletic as he is, you need to drive.  It's not like Miami had an inside presence that series.

People always critisize wing players for not driving to the hole against Miami. I understand that The Heat don't have a defensive anchor in the paint to prevent it, but they do have two excellent perimeter defenders who make it really difficult to drive. When Wade and Lebron are playing to their defensive potential they really are an opposing winger's nightmare.

If the Celtic starting FIVE  are 100% healthy (Pierce & Bradley included) and feeling fit as fiddle.  I'll take Boston Celtics any day over any team any place.

Injury is Bostons the achilles heal.

Granger nd George are both underachievers both of them are poor ball handlers who rely on da 3 point shot way too much. its no reason for George to not average 15-20ppg due to his athleticism nd shootin ability but a majority of these new era players dont have da killer instinct or scorers mentality dat da early 2000's players (Kobe, Vince, T-Mac, Iverson, Pierce, Arenas, etc.) did

This would also include lots of generous "no calls" from the refs for them.  Despite Bron's protestations to the contrary, he really doesn't know how to play the game without fouling out.
