Non-story.  He didn't say anything about the Celts, other than that by default he sees us as no better than the third place regular season team.  We finished behind the Pacers last year, so I can't blame him for thinking we'd do the same thing again.

And yes, the title is needlessly inflammatory.

Where did the Nets finish last season? So what constitutes the Nets as being better than when they haven't played a single game or season yet. Same goes for the Celtics. The Celtics finished behind the Pacers, but it's possible they finish ahead of Indy this upcoming season. As far as the Pacers finishing 2nd it's possible, but that's as far as they're going, sorry.

But you're right it's a non-story.

I think this is a non-story. What else is Granger suppose to say, because realistically Miami is the best team in the eastern conference and league going into the 2013 season. I find it interesting that he singles out the Nets, but it is what it is. But should we be surprise by Granger's comments, he's notorious for running off at the mouth, but never backing up his talk.

Granger is a guy that has never accomplished much if anything in his career. He's a long time Pacer, but is the 2nd or 3rd option scorer behind Hibbert and West. Based on how the Pacers performed in the playoffs and their off-season moves, I would be surprise if they do finish #2.

The Pacers are the version of the Hawks. Got some nice pieces, but mediocre. Good enough to make it to the playoffs, but not enough to get past the first round. Well at least the Hawks had 3 all-stars in Horford, Smith and Johnson. Only the cool-aide drinkers will buy into Granger's comments.

Who brags about being #2? In sports great players and teama compete to be on top. Granger's comments shows me much he's not a true competitor. You'll never hear Garnett, Kobe, Duncan, Wade, Dirk, Pierce, Rondo, CP3 or Lebron claiming to be #2.

Celtics don't play for #2, seeding or division or conference crowns, but for
...

those banners in the background.

Unless George takes a huge leap and becomes a consistent scorer, I dont see the Pacers getting by the Celtics.

They stood pat and the Celtics markedly improved (on paper!).
Yeah but when you are a young team with virtually no one even having entered their prime, then you don't need to do much to get better.

BTW, they added Mahinmi to backup Hibbert and Green as a solid scoring wing off the bench (to replace barbosa).  Swapped out Collison and added Augustin as the backup PG (which is a slight upgrade imo).

Indiana should be better than they were last year, when they finished ahead of Boston.  They should finish ahead of Boston again.

I don't think so, sorry. They're not better than last season. Did you notice the Pacers LOST: G Darren Collison (traded to Dallas); F Dahntay Jones (traded to Dallas); G A.J. Price (signed with Washington)Barbosa and Aumdson.

Do u really think Augustin, Green and Mahinmi are upgrades, because if u do, then you clearly know nothing about basketball, no disrespect. With their roster as currently constructed they're not that young.

And this is based on which season's record?

the Celtics had a deeper playoff run than the pacers and gave the heat a harder time...and that was before making all the moves that they made this summer.

and what makes anyone think the nets are going to be anything other than a Hawks 2.0?? solid team but I dont see them making it out of the 2nd round.

As much as I think fair is fair in the world of sports interpretation I admit I wouldn't want "KG says Brooklyn is toast" if he just said "I think we can win"

For one thing, Joe Johnson was the Hawks best player. He's the Nets second best player. The Hawks never had a top-10 player. The Nets have one in Deron.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.

I would think Augustin fits in with the Pacers better than Collison. He's a more pure PG than Collison (His FG% is low because he plays for the Bobcats  :P), which will really help Hibbs, Plumlee, George, etc. I agree that Jones is better than Green, but not offensively. Green's scoring ability is underrated. Mahimni is a good sized center that will play within his role. Seeing as how Admunson was exchanged for Mahimni, I call that a win.

It depends on perspective, but I think the Pacers did a good job this off-season.
I like Marcus Smart
