Any second rounder making a contribution is a big surprise.

I think expectations for Sullinger in here are way too high.

Watching Joseph...I think the comparisons to Daniels are good.  They seem to have similar games.

All three draft choices have shown reason for optimism.  Sullinger may see the court some this season.  I think the only court Joseph and Melo will see this season is in Maine.
Since we havent had a first rounder make a contribution in his first season (or even second) since Rajon Rondo, I would love to see Sullinger make an impact or at least earn a few rotation minutes this season backing up Bass.

I agree that the future for Melo and probably Joseph will include Maine this season. Hopefully they both get some extended practice minutes after camp in the early season to help the learning curve.

I think that Joseph has great value at #51.

Here's what nbadraft.net says about him, and it sounds very encouraging, especially with his physical tools:

"Excellent frame and length for the small forward position- measured in with a 6’11 wingspan and 8’7.5 standing reach at the pre-draft combine. Looks the part of an NBA swingman, with well above average physical tools and agility. He bulked up significantly during his four years at Syracuse without adding much extra weight. Primary scoring option on a balanced elite eight team during his senior season (13.4 PPG). At his best in the slashing game where he can gather momentum without the dribble. Improved strength, body control and right/left hand aptitude allows him to complete plays around the rim. Dramatically improved in the mid-range game knocking down pull jumpers after a few power dribbles. Needs to get his legs underneath the shot and go straight up- not efficient when forced to drift horizontally. Solid base, good elevation. 35% three-point shooter, most of the standstill variety. Accuracy from deep is night and day from two short years ago (22%). Confident dribble/driver with dominant right hand. Long strider. Smooth repertoire with just enough herky jerky to keep opponents off balance. For better or worse, does not step out of his comfort zone on the court. Committed under a turnover per game last season. Length wreaked havoc in 2-3 zone, consistently getting deflections and jumping passing lanes (1.4 SPG). Projects as a versatile defender possessing size, athleticism and lateral quickness."

His only knock seems to be his occasional passivity, but he didn't look passive in Orlando or Vegas despite injury.

Does that either hand dribble drive and herky jerky remind anyone else of someone? He already has the pullup jumper. Love to see him master the step-back jumper. And we have just the guy to teach it to him.

Like this kid a real lot at 51.

if he'd sign for vet min and we have a spot i'd welcome him back, doesn't need to play, knows the offense and defense, plays good defense and can play 3 positions if needed
of course he might want to sign with another team to get more minutes and keep his career going a bit longer

Let's see him against some NBA players first.
yes yes but some of players that were in the summer league were in the nba before
You don't think there's a reason why they're back there?

He played against NBA champion Adam Morrison.

He has more potential than E'twuan Moore, but that isn't saying much.

Quis brings some good old fashioned blue collar toughness, that doesn't always get a lot of respect from the fans. But I'm pretty sure he gets it from the players.

It seems a bit weird, but perhaps just normal post-draft, offseason optimism, that a 2nd round 51st pick is being compared favorably to a proven NBA player that any team would love to have in their rotation.

Granted I couldn't watch summer league, but this just seems like it's a good thing that there's no drug testing in the offseason.  For fans, I mean, though there should be mandatory testing of GM's this time of year.

Quisy has proven he can back up 2 positions in the NBA and play well.  He has handles and can pass, and his post game is very strong for a wing and outstanding for a 2-guard.  If he were more assertive on the court, his career would have been much different.

And that is pretty much the only thing Joseph and Daniels have in common.

That said, Danny loves his 2nd rounders, so...

good job forgetting the fact that this was the deepest draft ever, and that the 2nd rounders would have normally been 1st round picks if the first 27 picks werent the star of their designated title contending NCAA team.
