::)

sheldon williams 2.0 ?

He can be useful in short spurts against the right opposition.  Can probably help a bit with defending Lopez in Brooklyn, Hibbert in Indiana, and the Lakers should we play them.

Only useful in small stretches against certain teams, which is better than Shelden who was never useful at all.
he cant defend point guards who are 6'2, what makes you think he can defend al horford?

6'2 avery bradley shooting over 7'0 jason collins

Your right man we should of signed Dwight Howard to the Vet min  ::)

At this point in the offseason, for the vet min, you are getting projects and scrubs. ESPECIALLY at the C position.

Upgrade from Hollins (defensively, offensively he's just as useless). Not sure what people were expecting with what little cap room the Cs had left, but it was likely unrealistic.  Still have the BAE to use now or at the trade deadline when teams cut/buy-out players to cut their luxury tax.

Tough crowd. The man has an 11 year career! He's a solid post defender for the monsters in the league and a guy who can fill in until Melo is ready. Solid signing..
I agree with you. Collins isn't a sexy pick, but he'll give the team solid minutes at the 5.

Collins will be an excellent practice player, too. Just what Sullinger and Melo need to work against to continue their development.

When this guy fouls he fouls hard. Signed purely to goon people who enter the paint.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Love the signing. Tough guy coming of the bench. No ticky tacky fouls when this dude is on the floor.

For the vet min, this was a great pick-up....the world is littered with over-paid 7-footers, so I don't see how we could expect more for the minimum.

He probably won't be part of the regular rotation, but will see time with the inevitable injuries, back-to-backs, etc.  He can also put a body on the bigger opposing centers, who KG and Wilcox can struggle with.  He is a good positional defender, and will likely do well with rotations.

I think Danny has had a superb off-season....Ray was probably gone ages ago....so given that, I have a hard time seeing how we could have done better.

Sensible signing by Danny in the circumstances, as everyone knows there's not much left on the market at the moment by way of 7 foot 255 pounders, especially at the lower end of the pay scale.

Jason should give us some beef in the keyway plus he brings over a decade of experience, including an NBA finals appearance. He's way better than what Hollins and Williams could ever offer, I'm glad they're both gone, shame about Steamer though. Someone mentioned Erick Dampier as an option earlier in the thread, sure he might be a better rebounder than Jason but he has frying pan hands.

Hopefully Jason works out so KG can have a break from playing in the middle when need be.

I consider this one of the ultimate "who cares" signings. One thing for sure Collins surrounded by players one the Celtics roster is going to look ok compared to steamer sourrouned by the crap on the timberwolves
