How bout let's wait until the season comes along before we think about acquiring a fringe all star at best who is known to make dumb decisions time and time again, who has an inconsistent jumpshot, who has had his issues with coaches.
Yall are thinking Josh Smith is worth Avery Bradley, one of the best perimeter defenders in the league at 21 whose full potential hasn't even been fully realized yet, who overall would work better with Rondo than Smith would considering not only is he one of the best defensively at his position, can run the floor, and can cut to the basket, but also has a promising offensive game that was coming together before his shoulder injuries came. Even at 21, Bradley has a better offensive game than Smith considering he can hit threes and has a better-looking shot.
The league is being taken over by quick and athletic guards, not forwards. Bradley is a rare commodity that this team needs. Courtney Lee is a fine perimeter defender, but Bradley is one of the best.
As for Bass, I know Smith is an overall better player than Bass, but the difference is Bass is smart enough to know what his limitations are. He hardly ever tries to do more than he should, and that's something Smith doesn't bring. I've seen Smith time and time again try to do more than he should like post-up and shoot threes, and those are two areas he is not good at doing. Bass fits more into the scheme (Hence why we won the Baby for Bass deal), and has a consistent jumpshot to go with it.
The five of Rondo-Bradley-Pierce-Bass-KG was the best defensive five in the league and one of the best ever. We don't need to re-tool a good thing.
Overall, if it aint broke don't fix it.
