Trade Confirmed:

Houston sends: Russell Westbrook
NYK Sends: Carmelo Anthony

I don't like this trade for either team, but at least NYK now has a very convincing case for TOTF.

Totf?

I think it improves both teams (since they traded Rubio).

Can somebody explain what's so special about Kawhi Leonard.
Good defensive player with elite defensive potential. Elite possession creator already with excellent rebounding and forces a turnovers at a good clip.

Offensively, Kawhi had a much better jump-shot than expected coming out of college and hit the three somewhere in the high 30s during the regular season and I think he was over 40% in the playoffs if my memory is correct. Terrific finisher in the open court. Good cutter. A solid 12-14ppg scorer already with good efficiency. With his athleticism, good potential to grow into a quality slasher and get another 4-5 points a game. Score somewhere in the high teens.

In summary, Kawhi Leonard's potential is very much like Gerald Wallace + with a strong jump-shot that has legitimate three point range. Possibly a Luol Deng type producer down the line.

Uh, yeah, what he said.

But yeah instead of hitting the rookie wall he went the other way.  Shot above 40% from deep over the last few months.  Already one of the better rebounders at the 3 in limited minutes.

All that said, i think Rubio adds a lot more to this team than Leonard takes away.  Howard, Johnson, and Milsap should rest well tonight...

Next summer can we do away with the Team of the Future? It's just a hook savvy gms use to motivate otherwise lopsided trades. The vote gets held two weeks after everybody has stopped caring and garners what 10 votes?

Sorry I missed my pick...I'm going with a young and upcoming wing defender:

Chris Singleton can guard 2s and 3s in stretches for my team. Glad to have him at this point.

I didn't see a lot of Singleton last year. I heard that his man-to-man defense was dodgy (it certainly was against Boston) but that his team defense was very strong. A guy who can come in and make plays off the ball for you defensively but not a stopper. A good rebounder too.

I think the voting should happen before the playoffs.

I also think that scrapping it in the future is an idea worth consideration.

Was my least favorite of Utah's seventeen wing players last season.

It's worth discussing.  I think the big issue is we don't concentrate on it at the end.  Maybe we could do TOTF "playoffs" or something.

Some guys like to build young teams.  It gives GMs an avenue when they don't have the picks to compete with a superstar-fronted squad.
