This goes against my own interest, but here we go:
http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/pcm_finder.cgi?request=1&sum=0&p1=dudleja01&y1=2012&p2=piercpa01&y2=2012Pierce rebounds better, passes better, is a more versatile scorer. Dudley shoots better, both from the field and from deep by every statistical marker you could use. Pierce is probably the better defender still at this stage, but Dudley is not far behind. Dudley is also 26, and just entering his prime while Pierce is 34, and on his way out of the league.
Pierce is the better player now, that's not in doubt from anyone. But having Dudley + Pekovic > Pierce alone. I thought a lot about this trade before I even made the offer, and it wasn't until I saw the depth at the 4 and 5 in the early 6th round that I came around for it.
I'm not sure what to say here, other than that I don't believe that you think this was a fair trade. You can use whatever metaphor you want, but Truth just hurt his team majorly, and you improved massively. You know that, but if we have to go through the dance where you pump up the other GM so he'll make trades with you in the future, I understand. We've all done it before.
That's fine, and you can think what you want, but those are your words, not mine, and I'm not endorsing them. I think I got a great deal here, sure. But I also think the value disparity isn't anywhere near what you're saying it is.
I think Pierce is a perfect fit for my team, while Dudley/Pekovic are great fits for Philadelphia. That's me.
Also for the record if you could please continue to call me a 'rakish Lothario', I would enjoy that like...a lot.
I know what it means, I tried to read Don Quioxte. I read the crap out of the sparksnotes a long time ago, and I think that's awesome.
