The Brooklyn Nets select Jeremy Lin and Kevin Martin

Offense at the expense of defense.

This is just me, but I dont think DMC will enjoy playing with this team, since he won't be getting his shots with Lin and Martin.

I think Cousins will be fine. Lin will create some good opportunities for him as well as giving Cousins some space to do his own thing. That should work.

I think it'll be Kevin Martin and Jeremy Lin that struggle to co-exist. Jeremy Lin isn't too dissimilar to Tyreke Evans in terms of being a ball dominant heavy usage PG and Kevin Martin struggled to play with Tyreke.

So last year he played on a team where no one passed and now he is on a team with a distributing pg, yet he won't get his shots? He is our first option and will be a problem running the pick and roll with Lin.

Yes Lin is ball dominant but he also is a good and willing passer. Not something I can say  about Evans.

I really like the trade for Brooklyn. If you're going to have to answer questions about an injury plagued two guard, you might as well get a starting PG and another rotation player out of it.
Whether people like it or not this is a draft of public opinion. I wasn't going to be able to sell anyone on Gordon being healthy next year, so I got a 20 point scorer who was undervalued because he was hurt last year.

In fairness, Martin is undervalued because he's bad a defense, is soft, and is hurt almost every year:

2008:  21 games missed
2009:  31 games missed
2010:  26 games missed
2012:  26 games missed (out of 66)

That's not a reliable player.

Point taken.

I think of Lin as a shoot first PG. But you enlightened me. I retract my statement.

trade

To Brooklyn: 4.5 and **4.13**
To LAC: Eric Gordon and a 10.6

while we're waiting for GreenFaith i'll reprise my role of wet blanket and ask if this is 4.13 or 4.12 (which i think it should be -- 4.13 is WHO's pick)

If he was reliable he would have went a lot earlier. At this stage you have to admit he's an excellent value.

champkind with another foolishly deep squad.

Yes, I think that was a really impressive trade:

PG: Goran Dragic
OG: Eric Gordon
SF:
PF: Dirk Nowitzki, Derrick Favors
C:  Roy Hibbert, Derrick Favors

That team is suddenly in a very good place. Adding Eric Gordon is a major boost to this team's offensive potential. Both as a scorer and as a secondary playmaker behind Dragic. Two guys who have strong pick and roll games to work with Dirk Nowitzki. In addition to a strong three player big man rotation.

This is a really good basketball team. Maybe even a title contender.

Steve Donahue said Lin is the best player he has ever seen in the pick and roll.  Not just coached against, best hes ever seen.

BS-ing that Yao-led squad into the 2nd round is still some of the finest work I've ever done.

I've never been a Kevin Martin fan. I've got to admit that.

But there are players that are about 80% of his talent offensively, a whole lot better defensively without the health questions. So in my opinion, there are better values.
