With the 8.2, Detroit selects Landry Fields.

Back soon to make the 8.3 (want to confer with Rebus). If you want to make an offer, send PM.

MKG, Faried and Bogut is going to the be most offensively debilitating frontcourt trio in the league. They are going to choke the life out of Cleveland's offense and make the Cavs, in all likelihood, the worst offensive team in the league.

Faried is not a good fit with MKG + Bogut.

They'll be creating second chance points, and a ton of it since all three cash the boards. Lin is a good scorer and Rush is an efficient shooter outside. Lin is also an underrated passer and he can make scoring simple for Faried by giving lobs and drop passes.

Bogut is a very good passer too and he can find Faried and MKG, who likes to cut through lanes. And a solid enough in the post that he can draw double teams. Faried and MKG's motor and relentless desire on rebounding they can clean up if Bogut misses, and their athletic and fast enough to run back down the court in case they miss an offensive rebound, so they still are set in the defense.

PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

Excellent trade for IP.

I can understand moving Holiday for a high usage offensive creator like Jeremy Lin for Cleveland. If you have to give up Thad Young for Faried to make this deal (I know that is not what happened), then so be it.

I think Holiday and Lin, in terms of potential / ceiling, are pretty similar but offer totally different skill-sets. Lin as the high usage offensive creator vs Holiday's less offensive punch, more defense. Given how limited Cleveland is offensivelyand given how they are planning for 3+ years time rather than next season, I can see the appeal in Lin over Jrue.

In the immediate sense, Jrue Holiday is the better basketball over Lin and is a far far superior fit in Chicago's roster than Lin. So this is a really nice upgrade for IP.

------------------------------------------

I also prefer Thaddeus Young over Faried. I think that is a good improvement for IP too.

Faried = if you can't do a darn thing offensively except make layups (garbage man) then you [dang] well better be an elite defender and rebounder. That is the only way you are going to be a quality starting PF in the NBA and Faried isn't a high level defender. And he isn't a starting quality PF. Nor is he a high level backup.

Faried is a one dimensional player that has no business starting in the NBA (or being anything more than a 15-20mpg backup) until he either develops his offense or improves his defense.

Thaddeus Young is a weak starter, a very weak starter in this 24 team CB League, but he is a high level backup PF (who can play 26-30mpg) because his skill-set as an undersized quick PF creates matchup advantages for his team. He enables his teammates on both ends of the court. Faried hurts his teammates on one end of the court and doesn't do enough to make up for it elsewhere to be a high minute player.

----------------------------------------------

Just look at all the difficulties Denver had with him. Couldn't play Faried alongside Koufos/Mozgov/McGee without wrecking your offense. Can't play him alongside Al Harrington without wrecking your defense.

He is a difficult player to work with.

His skill-set is not easy to build a functioning team around. He just doesn't work well enough with a very large number of players.

Thanks Who, while I disagree about Faried for Yoki, I agree about pretty much everything else. Thad Young compliments Bosh better, Holiday is a better fit. Overall upgrade.

Also, in an unrelated note I'm in the chat tellin Roy Hobbs jokes til lunchtime.

The Mavericks are adding Larry Bird, who will largely be a mentor / figurehead and will allow Frank Vogel to run the team.

I call shinanigans. It's wdleehi's call, but I think you gotta pick one. It's pick a coach round, not pick two coaches and pretend you're picking one coach round.

We've always been allowed to pick coaches and then fill out staff.  We're the last pick of the round.  Bird is our coach, Vogel's his head assistant.

Wow, really regretting not doubling up. Pat Riley would've been great a water boy.

Faried had an effective field goal rate of 67% on jump shots last year, so he can shoot a little bit. I expect this to improve.
He was a rookie last year, who works harder than just about anyone. I expect him to come into next year improving his defensive rotations, adding more post/counter moves an continuing to improve his shot.
Maybe they had trouble playing him with certain players last year but the improvements in the offseason should alleviate that concern.

Back soon to make the 8.3 (want to confer with Rebus). If you want to make an offer, send PM.

Great value. Fields is a low usage, high effort, high IQ player with a great sense of spacing and a knack for coming up with long rebounds. He led the Knicks in cumulative +/-.
