This has been a surprisingly good offseason for Dallas after a terrible start.  They were able to maintain flexibility for next summer, and add some nice, younger pieces for this year.

afraid boston is going to be stuck with moore and some scrap heap guy trying to start at the SG until AB gets back....really disappointing

Just talked to Jeff Caplan on twitter and he said with the signing of Mayo the Mavericks ability to S&T Terry drastically decreased. Looks like Danny Ainge will have to look elsewhere for a miracle

It might be time for a "Christmas miracle."

ugh..if we are counting on christmas to start at the SG for ANY amount of time...we are in trouble. guy plays little defense. and you want him and moore on the team? that is a disaster

Christmas is a summer league star..nothing more than that.

PG: Darren Collison, Roddy Beaubois
SG: Vince Carter, OJ Mayo, Dominique Jones
SF: Shawn Marion, Jared Cunningham, Dahntay Jones
PF: Dirk Nowitzki, Elton Brand
C:  Chris Kaman, (Elton Brand), Brandan Wright

Dallas are secretly becoming a contender IMO
I don't think Kaman/Brand are going to be enough help for Dirk.

I agree, I think our best option might be Pietrus as a stop gap until Bradley comes back.  At least we know he is a good lockeroom guy who can run with Rondo and Defend.

We could do worse.

I would be very surprised at this point (depending what you consider a scrap heap guy).  There are still a decent amount of quality rotation wings available (Lee, Rush, Belinelli, Childress, Brewer, Pietrus, Howard, Miles, Hill, Bell), and the money is drying up around the league.  At least a few of those guys will be squeezed, and will have to take a very small contract.  And given that Boston can offer playing time and a big stage, they should be near the top of the list.

If Danny can't get Lee, then I expect him to sign a quality replacement pretty quickly from that next tier down.

I prefer :
1. Lee
2. Pietrus

I am afraid though boston doesn't have the money to get either. If those 2 guys go off the board...no idea who danny targets with the Bi-Annual

Hopefully this all sorts out now quickly since Dallas is done with their cap space and Mayo has signed his own Posey type make good contracts.

Trust me I would love Lee over Pietrus but I see him as the less realistic option at this point.

i mean rush, barbosa, childress would all be good options I guess. I just want boston to have a quality guy to start (for a few months) and then a guy that can contribute once AB comes back. I don't see that being moore or christmas or anyone they have right now (seeing JET's role needs to be 6th man and 4th quarter)

I think the starter is not THAT important early in the season.  They should have such a strong bench with Green and JET, that they can get by, if they just have someone who can be passable on both ends of the floor (or exceptional on one end).

If all they get is someone like Daniels or Sasha, then its time to worry.  But right now, there are so many quality options out there, I wouldn't worry too much.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Time to re-sign Pietrus ASAP, throw in Christmas and hope that we can get Lee.
Finger crossed.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.
