I'm left with the impression Dallas just really never had any interest in doing a S&T with us.  They probably figured it'd be in their own best interest to keep us away from guys like Mayo or Lee.  Especially considering Dallas ended up with Mayo.

I still find it extremely difficult to believe Mayo would agree to a $4M 1 year contract (with a player option for year 2).  The only explaination I can think of, is Mayo must think he'll be the starter, and with a good showing this season he'll cash in next year.

Kyle Korver is going to the Atlanta Hawks !!
Why didn't Danny try to get him? Or did he?

PG: Darren Collison, Roddy Beaubois
SG: Vince Carter, OJ Mayo, Dominique Jones
SF: Shawn Marion, Jared Cunningham, Dahntay Jones
PF: Dirk Nowitzki, Elton Brand
C:  Chris Kaman, (Elton Brand), Brandan Wright

Dallas are secretly becoming a contender IMO

I am sure Phoenix or Minnesota will end up with Lee. We are looking at West, Pietrus, or Childress.

No way Vince starts over Mayo. Also Delonte will likely be given the room extension so it seems like it would look like this:

Collison/West/Cunningham
Mayo/Jones/Jones
Marion/Carter/Rookie
Dirk/Wright/ Someone
Kaman/Brand/Someone

That's a playoff team. Not getting out of the first round though. Likely a 7th or 8th seed if it stays healthy.

Randy Foye could be an option too.

Leandro Barbosa is still out there also but I don't really like the fit with Jet.

For those asking about Courtney Lee, Mickael Pietrus, what is deal with Jason Terry deal, OJ Mayo settling on Mavs should get ball rolling.

I guess it's possible and we could still be in the running for Lee. I'm ready for the news tomorrow good or bad not feeling great about it though.

It would 100% be Moore,Williams,JJJ to Rockets and 1st for Lee.

I wonder if Dallas freed up the cap room to sign Mayo by renouncing Terry.  I hope not because I was hoping a sign and trade that would allow Ainge to offer Lee the MLE was still possible.

why renounce then?

It's been reported that the Mavs already renounced their Bird rights on Terry.
wouldnt the Celtics media have been all over it? It would mean no sign and trades could go down right? say it ain't so preserving our MLE would complete our offseason  >:(

I'm not sure the Celtics media is all that conversant in the ins and outs of the salary cap.  The Dallas media reported that Terry has been renounced, and the fact that they've made the signings they have show that he clearly has been.

Teams can still sign-and-trade players even after they've been renounced.  However, teams can't go over the salary cap to do so, meaning they have to sign the player with their cap space and then trade him.

Probably not.  It would have required Dallas to take on a guaranteed deal, which they had no interest in doing since they're using cap space to improve their team.
