Well, if that is what Camby said, then I'd think that he made the decision that was best for him.

For Ray Allen's situation, Camby's words could be understood as - "What would my family think of me if I chose to stay in BOS and be dangled for a THIRD year in a row at the trade deadline?

To me, I'm sure Ray Allen thought of the fans - hence, his message in the Boston Globe.

But - as the popular saying goes - "To Each His Own."

Camby made his decision for himself.

Ray Allen made his decision for himself.

as if ray has been the only one dangled in trades. you dont see rondo and pierce whining about that.

Rondo's "trade" never went to the point of Ray's. For as much "CP3 for Rondo" discussion that was prevalent on the blog and in the news, it NEVER went as far as someone actually pullng the trigger either way.

For Paul - same thing - even to a lesser extent. Plus, Paul has been a Celtic the entire time - Ray Allen hasn't. With that being said, Ray Allen just doesn't have the same endearment to BOS as Paul does - and he never will, unfortunately.

So it's ok to be offered to other teams in trades, but it's significantly more insulting when other teams are willing to take the offer?

so? you used the words "dangled" so it doesnt matter if the deals never came that far.

he was offered a no trade clause, so again another argument down the drain

Before we divert the thread further - what exactly is your line of thought, here?

I'm guessing that you assume that Ray Allen was more insulted by the fact that a trade was actually comsummated?

I don't want to defend Ray, but can we please stop with the "no trade clause"? There has been no indication that it was actually offered. In fact, the latest I've heard of what was offered, in an column in the Boston Herald a day or two ago, was that they offered a 2 year, 12 million deal. Nothing more, nothing less.

Until I hear from a reliable source to the contrary, this "Ray Allen turned down a no-trade clause" needs to stop.

Personally, I thought his reasoning was a load of crap.

Not going to a team because of a rivalry (Heat vs Knicks) that existed for around 5 years (Riley vs JVG years) and died 10 years ago ... is stupid.

I agree. The Knicks and Heat HAVE not had a real rivalry in 10yrs. The media tried to manufacture both teams, 2012 playoff match, but clearly that series was one sided. But I think he had his reasons not to go to Miami.

Maybe he didn't want to witness the Ray Allen treatment. Believe it or not, but not every veteran free agent wants to run to Miami.

Allow me to explain the "dangled" part. I should've been more clear.

After all, it is now common knowledge that Ray Allen was actually traded - told by Doc to pack his bags, everything.

But for whatever reason the trade never went through.

So, with that being said - did Rondo or Paul's proposed "trades" ever make it to that point?

And for Camby - his intentions are well and good, and he probably made some browny points with NY fans - but after this summer, the NY Knicks are the SECOND best team in NY, thanks to Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, Gerald Wallace.

He picked the wrong team.

Camby responce was perfect.  As for the letter in the Globe and the PR stuff with Ray is Bull.  Every time I hear Ray speak about Brothers and family makes me laugh. You dont punch your brother in the face and leave him on the side of the road, and then expect him to shake your hand the next day.  If the celtics were his brothers and boston was his family then you would be seeing an interview like this one.

Yea my brothers do the punch and leave on the side of the road stuff and are back to loving the next day. Ray didn't do that, it's like he divorced his brothers and got adopted by his brothers' bully's family.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

well, if you consider the owner of the celtics a reliable source, Wyc grousbeck aluded that it was offered on Felger&Mazz

Mazz asked him if there was any truth to the no-trade clause being offered...wyc said something of "that was something that was discussed and danny knows I wouldve been ok with offering that to someone like Ray"

so basically, he was saying it was offered....he also basically said the 3/27 ray demanded was true as well

Camby basically said "I just couldn't come back to the Garden in a Heat uniform (the enemy), even I'd boo myself".
I completely respect what Camby said.  Now that's how you do it.
