Darko Milicic vs Nenad Krstic (Timberwolves vs Celtics, 2010-11 NBA regular season)

Kristic should have come back. Maybe we didn't ask him to?

Steamer much better defender, no contest really

I'd take Darko over Steamer myself. Superior defender against strong players and superior pick and roll defender. I don't see where you got this "much better, no contest really" idea from.

Most of the flack Darko gets is for his draft position and the big contracts he's been given. People should focus on what he actually brings, and he's quite the solid defender.

That said, his work ethic has been questioned, as that's my only concern.

This past season, Darko didn't hit a shop past 9 feet.  Steamer shot one of the highest percentage in the league for bigs with his mid-range jumper.  Darko missed 45% of his layups BTW.

Darko is better at bodying up in the low post.  I'm not too sure Steamer won't be a superior pick/roll defender once his foot heals and he can practice with the team.

  • Let them hate, as long as they fear
All I can say is that a player can play ineficient with a system and play better with another system. For instance, Allen will bemore efficient with the Heat than he would have been with us this coming year. He will have more open shotscause Lebron and Wade have to be doubled up a lot more than our players. Havin beaten a dead horse, I dont know if Milicic would be more efficient with our team than he has been with other teams up till now. Its up to our managers who have to earn their money to work it out and determine is Milicic can be efficient with our system.
And someday in the midst of time,
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that you were a friend of mine

Kristic signed a deal overseas so he is not coming back to Boston, or the USA for that matter.  Hmmm Darko.  Well if he can play defense and rebound, we've got the need for a 7 footer.

I'm convinced Steimer is gone for 3-4m per year, and maybe more if someone gets happy. Quite possibly the team that just released Darko.

This was said well:

I just happen to thing a lineup of KG/Bass as the other big, Pierce, Rondo is going to make a center look better than he is. Call it the Perk effect :)

Yes, I am aware he signed with them. I said "Kristic should have come back".

Actually, now that I have had time to think, I'm glad he didn't come back to us b/c we would not have money to make the moves we are trying to (sign JET and use MLE somewhere else).

I'm worried that both the body and psyche of Darko Milicic are too brittle.  I guess he's worth a shot if we can't resign Stiemsma, though.

On another note: who would have ever thought there would be a bidding war for Greg Stiemsmsa's services for this season during last year's training camp?

Good for Greg.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I will go on record now to say if we land Darko, we will hang #18 next season. It really is just that simple. If this guy plays on the same team as Rondo with the spacing provided by the team we have presently constituted, it is over for the rest of the league.

Get it DONE DANNY!!!

I realllllllly hope this post is a joke.  If so, it is hilarious.
If not...  for shame.

My thoughts on Darko:
For the vet min I'm not expecting much more than what Darko will give us- a BIG body who can defend a little and grab a few boards while KG is getting some much needed rest.  I'd rather have Steimsma back but he is most likely gone anyways AND I think we might be better off using the BAE on a SG since we need a starter while AB is hurt.

Can we sign-and-trade Darko to CSKA Moskow and get Kristic back?

Nothing overly surprising and revealing in this clip.  Rondo and KG create good looks for Krstic.  Jonny Flynn and Anthony Tolliver unable to help or create good looks for Darko.

Rondo and KG are better than Flynn and Tolliver. Lesson learned.

Darko = best available center.
Not that he's all that but I could see him starting games for the c's.
In crunch time kg slides to center. Bass Wilcox sully get back up minutes.
Darko would be a fine stop gap till mello is ready
