Here's some realism: Without Rondo, the Big Three Era lasts only three years (or possibly less).
More realism: Rondo has been one of the best point guards in the league for the past three years.
Even More Realism: Rondo has one of the best bargain contracts in the NBA at $11 million.
EVEN MORE REALISM: Rondo has a very rare no-nonsense attitude that hardly any star player has in this league anymore (ie the Lebrons, D-Wades, Melos, and Howards). Not to mention he has a brilliant basketball mind, such as lobbying Doc to put Avery Bradley in the starting lineup instead of Ray, which turned out to give the Celtics their best defensive lineup ever while also giving them a more offensively efficient group as well.
Opinion: Rondo has all the makings to be an all-time Celtics great. He's shown time and time again he can be the alpha dog for this team when Pierce and KG leave. He doesn't have to be the scorer because we already have Pierce, and when Pierce fouled out of the playoff games this year, it was Rondo who stepped up his game scoring-wise. There are only two players in the NBA who create overall offense better than Rondo, and that's Lebron and CP3. Let's not worry about this "realism" of Rondo until KG and Pierce leave.
