Listen, I’m not talking about Ray right now. He’s no longer part of us,” said Rivers. “That’s my take, really. We talked about a lot of stuff, but really, I’m talking about our guys.”
If Doc sound (still) this p---ed off at Ray and his "decision," I can only imagine how KG and Paul (even Rondo) feels about it.
What Ray did was totally inexcusable. It turns out all his "good guy" persona is nothing but a put-on. He's as phony as they come and I've always had that feeling about the guy even though I appreciate his talent.
And I'm tired of the few fans he got left blaming Danny and Rondo for him leaving. Danny was doing his job to better the TEAM (something Ray forgot about). EVERYONE on the team was on the trading block including the captain and his nemis Rondo. But they didn't whine about. Hell, it was a fuel for Rondo. All I got from his comments after the press conference is that he wanted everything to be about him. Throwing that much money at him wasn't enough (money he clearly didn't deserve). Proposition to add a "no trade" clause wasn't enough either. He wanted KG's deal when he's the farthest thing from KG or how important KG is to the team.
Doc said KG could've asked for more money, that he deserve that much but KG wanted to help out the team. That is a "consumate professional," (a nickname Ray don't deserve to bare), that is a team player.
In the end, it became all about Ray Allen and less about the team, the guys he went to war with. Nothing will make my year than seeing the Celtics eliminate the Heat to advance in the playoffs and maybe even win it all. Goodluck riding the bench on the Heat. That should really make you feel wanted, Ray. That's my piece on the whole thing.
