Ray classy as always... he avoided explaining his real reasons for leaving and tried to smooth it over as much as possible.

Very nice.  I'll miss him.

  • It's all about the TEAM!
Forced smile, looks older already and like he just sold his soul to the devil and he's realizing it.

It's gonna be hard to forgive Ray for this. I love(d)the guy. I thought he had the sweetest shot in the game during his time. But seeing this just makes it too easy to dislike (okay hate) Ray.

Ray....You went to the Heat!

It's unforgivable.

The 34 thing bothers me too.  That's the captain's number, Ray, and from my perspective, you aren't allowed to wear it for the enemy.

I don't care that you wore it when you were playing for the Bucks and the Sonics or even as Jesus Shuttlesworth.  That's a lack of respect.

Yo, that was absolutely horrible to watch. Yes, he was classy ... but also choked up. Seeing Spo talk about him was so annoying. I wasn't that upset until watching that. Really weak man.

Ray will be dropping mad three balls and just about nothing else . .. he'll do better on the court most likely but it's still a weak move mang. Double the money's not good enough.

Its a lack of respect to wear a number he wore in the NBA dating back as far as 1997?

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.

I'm not being sarcastic.  I was finally starting to get over the whole thing, thinking about rookies, sophomores, summer league, and who is going to round out the roster.  Ray who?

Then, I stupidly watched that painful press conference, and now I can't be anything but mad at Ray Allen all over again for leaving us and going to the Heat.  Everything about it is disrespectful.  The jersey number is just a very visceral example.

F Ray Allen.

If he doesn't get booed out of the Garden when he returns it will be a sad day in Boston spots.

And the crying continues. No signs of perspective on the horizon for some of our more emotionally unstable fellow fans. No, rather it's a turbulent cycle of crying, whining and venting. Lather, rinse, repeat. The dirty not-so-secret truth of the matter is the comments section of Celtics Blog has always been a repository of quite a bit of anti-Ray bias, right from the day the trade with Seattle was announced. And certainly nothing written here about Ray since he signed with Miami is that much worse than what was written about him during the first two rounds of the 2008 playoffs. Listen to those people back then, and Ray was never going to be a "real Celtic" like PP, and he was never going to be immune from the "what have you done for me lately" mentality that KG earned right out of the gate. So it's kind of amazing to see this hysterical outpouring of anger and hurt now that he's gone. I'd bet the farm that the most vitriolic commenters now are the same geniuses cooking up trades for Ray two months ago. Likewise, the classy commenters now showing a modicum of appreciation and restraint are probably the ones who actually liked the guy all along and would have the most reason to feel injured.

Get Ray tf outta here man  ::)

He's gonna have a tough time 'always' being a Celtic considering he's playing for the Heat now.
