file this response under "sour grapes", but it seems wrong that after a guy gets bought out 100 cents on the dollar, he can go and sign with anyone. There should be some kind of waiver process when that happens. For Miami to be able to sign someone who is being paid that kind of money by another team is just wrong. I know it compiies with the rules, but talk about a loophole you can drive a truck through.....

That's pretty funny. Allen had issues with Lewis when they were at Seattle together. I imagine they still do not like each other very much. Lewis was his Rondo in Seattle.

Yep. Ray had trouble sharing the ball with Lewis. This isn't just anti Ray talk. Lewis was young and getting better and better and Ray seemed miffed by the attention Lewis got. Lewis missed some key games toward the end of the last playoff run and Ray dominated the ball. This was during Rays matador defense days. They will spread the floor but they are not buddies.

Has Ray already signed his deal officially, or was it a verbal commitment? Maybe he dislikes Lewis enough to change his mind and realize what a ****-move he made, and takes the 2-yr deal.

Where is this Rashard / Ray feud stuff coming from?

From guys who has season tickets in Seattle. Im trying to find a link but I don't think it was like that. Lots of morning sports talk radio stuff on the way to work. It might have been in the Tacoma news Tribune perhaps 7 years ago

I dont see Lewis making them much better. What he gives you in streaky shooting he takes away in defense. More Lewis equals less Battier or Haslem.

Perhaps he is just Bosh, Haslem, Battier insurance.

I think that is exactly what it is. I don't see him getting off the bench much there.
Yeah, but they don't need him to come off the bench much and when you are talking about a deep rotation type player, Lewis is a better 10th man (or whatever) than most teams have.

The time to beat Miami was their first two years, they are only going to get better and better until Wade starts to appreciably tail off due to age.
And perhaps before they finally just gave in and played Bosh at C and went small.

Let's not just give Miami 2 or 3 more rings just yet.  Even with the injury to Bosh, they couldn't have asked for a better path to the title than what they got this year.  NY loses Amare to injury, DRose goes down with an injury, Boston loses 4 of their top 10 players at the start of the season to injury, Thunder clearly not ready for their moment in the spotlight.

Mike
Come on don't be silly.  They were only ever going to face one of Boston/Chicago, two teams they had beaten fairly easily the year before.  If Bosh isn't injured, Miami beats Boston in 5 or 6 games and has no issue with any other team in the East.  Period.

Oklahoma City just doesn't match up well with Miami.  They don't have the players in the right places to consistently beat the Heat.  Sure they may have been a bit young, but they did sweep the defending champs, knock the Lakers out in 5 (who had been in the finals the 3 years before dallas), and beat the best team in basketball in 6 (winning the last 4 games).

In fact until this season the Western Conference representative in every single NBA finals since the Bulls beat the Jazz in 97-98 has been the Lakers, Spurs, or Mavericks.  All three of those teams were beaten soundly by Oklahoma City this past season.  Let's not act like it was some fluke they made it to the Finals or that they couldn't handle the big time.  They were just soundly beaten by the better team.  Period.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

As if Seattle Supersonics fans needed more reason to root for the Heat.

Oh without a doubt.  My friends here in Seattle are thrilled.  A couple of them still have this pic as their profile pic on facebook:

Cool... Ray and Rashard can team up on the bench for the good guys and help fight off the Thunder.  Doin it for Seattle!   And people said Ray wasn't loyal... hah!  How wrong they were!

If you are a "supposed" celtics fan why so upset about OKC not being in Seattle anymore other than the fact you cannot catch anymore games there in person? Calling the Heat the "good guys" is basically sacrilege IF you are a celtics fan.

I live in Seattle... can't root for the THunder until Seattle gets a new team.  As a Celtic fan, I'm  more concerned about teams like the Lakers than I am with Miami.  I've never had a problem with Miami... so I don't care that Ray signed with them.  I consider them the "Good Guys" in the oncoming war of Heat/THunder dynasties... so I'm glad Ray is playing on the right side.

Ehh, I dunno... when Dallas won the title they beat OKC just as soundly. OKC looks to be shocked the first time they get to the bigger stage the first season and comes back prepared for it the next season. Look for OKC to perform much better if they get that far again. SA wasn't the best team, they got past the worst teams before meeting OKC. Mavs were turrible last season (partially b/c of the people who didn't return and the let down after winning the chip). LA wasn't all that... lol you are talking about 3 seasons ago and act as if that has anything to do with that season. Fakers almost got beat by Denver, it's not like they were world beaters!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I live in Seattle... I've been brainwashed into hating the Thunder just like you've been brainwashed into hating LeBron James and thinking Ray Allen is a "traitor".

That's not brainwashing, those guys actually play for a rival (Ray went to the team we lost to in the 4th Q game 7 of ECF)! Sonics are no longer a team, you are holding on to something that doesn't even exist anymore. Not the same at all.

I don't feel like Miami is our rivals.  They beat us two years in a row... big deal.  They are no more our rivals than the Orlando Magic.  *shrug*

Our "rivals" are the Lakers.

Boston pushed Ray out the door and the man had too much pride to become a 3rd string shooting guard on a team that barely wanted him anymore.  I don't blame him for wanting to join a contender that had a clear need and role for him.

My thinking is that if you're bought out, you can only sign up to the veteran, or your buyout amount, whichever is bigger.

R. Lewis just hasn't been the same player since the juice bust. Am I way off by saying he's toast? He shot 26% from three last season, I believe.

Now you are just making excuses after the fact.  The simple reality is Oklahoma City beat the three franchises that represented the western conference in the NBA finals for 15 years, including the last NBA three champions.  They also beat a team that was on an 18 game winning streak, which includes games in which they rested their three best players and two first round sweeps.  And they did all of that with relative ease.  You don't just forget how to play when you reach the NBA finals, what does happen often is you just run into a team that is better than you and you get beat.
