I find it hilarious that we're supposedly still in "win now" mode, and we let Steamer go and draft Fab Melo, whose ceiling (for at least the next year or two) is basically Stiemsma but with worse offense.
Sure, CB has a history of hyping up and overrating bench players (holy cow, how did you guys actually think Glen Davis was good???) but Stiemsma was the one time where it was actually justified.
And you saw this after one summer league game?
Actually, forget the summer league game. Melo was a DOMINANT defensive force in the Big East, arguably the best college basketball conference. For a guy who's only playing 6 years of high level basketball, he's already shown that he's at Steamers level.
Im not knocking Goldiblocks, but let's look at the stuff Melo has. In his 6 years of experience, his footwork is better. His defensive instincts is on par if not better than Greg. He also has good form in his jump shot, meaning it can be better. He's naturally stronger, meaning he can get more stronger.
He has a higher ceiling than Greg, and I like Greg. But to say Melo's ceiling is only a prime Greg Steimsma selling it REALLY low.
