Gonna be another fun year on CelticsBlog, I see  :)
Kind of amazed that anyone could have watched Melo today and got that he had good instincts or that he showed much of anything.

Jones and Sullinger were the only players on the court that showed ANY NBA skills whatsoever and that includes Cole Aldrich. I understand its game 1 of Summer League but I saw very little good basketball played during that game today

HOLY CRAP

Did I just see Fab Melo run the break? HAHAHA...Missed the alley but I'm pretty sure he just ran on the break... (23-8 Celtics by the way)

And Kris Joseph...LOVE IT

Edit: Kris Joseph can stroke it.

Almost everyone comes into this league with a huge amount of talent and potential ... the difference? Attitude, work ethic, coaching, and mentoring.

He's in the right place to over-achieve.

Let's relax. It was one summer league game and the first of his career. Let's get a bigger sample before we call him a boom or bust.

This is why it's so hard to get a read on Fab Melo. So many conflicting reports.

Hoping to catch the summer league game against Utah and Enes Kanter. Hopefully that will be an enlightening matchup ... give us a better idea of what Fab Melo is made of.

I'm looking for him to be a serviceable defensive center, maybe good for 15 minutes a night, by next year--not this year.

Not sure what everyone's looking for, but the young man looked good on those blocks.

Isn't that what we got him for - especially with the uncertainty of Stiem possibly leaving?

Send it back, Son! Do your thing! Just do what KG tells you, and you will be fine.

Didn't see the game so I can't say one way or another.  Just thought it was funny that so many knowledgeable fans can see the same events and come to such wildly different conclusions.

I think Melo and Jeff Green are gonna be neck-and-neck for most polarizing guy on CB this year.

The game I watched he had 4 blocks and had a nice step back 16 foot jump shot.  He looked fine to me.

I watched the game.   I think he will be ok.   One game doth not a career make...

I saw some things I actually liked.   He gets low on D and was mobile.  I thought he had some defensive awareness.    He isn't dominant by any stretch but he blocked some shots and ran the floor.   He is not a solid post player on offense but had a nice touch on the jumper he took.  I think he has bad hands and have thought that for a while.   Hands can be improved to a large extent.  I was not high on him as a pick so I was pleasantly surprised.   I really liked how he gets low into his stance on D like Bradley does on D.

I do think that we may down the road regret not taking Jones3 though.  But then again JJJ was guarding him.

Hmmm...looked good on that "and 1", too....good body control.

Haven't read through the thread, yet, so I apologize if it's been mentioned here, but let's not forget that he hasn't been playing ball that long.

He loves blocking shots, I've heard him say during interviews that he LOVES being coached, and he has a GREAT one in Doc...he has KG as a mentor, has a veteran team, has RONDO...yep he will be fine, as long as he continues to work hard.

For that call him a bust, what are you expecting? Duncan part 2? Melo with hard work could become like a poor man verajo, scola, . Endless energy, elbows up everywhere, bruises after the game. Best part is that he still has some ways to go in conditioning, but has a great frame to work with. Imo he is going go turn out to be a steal once kg instills intensity into his game
